Hi, I need advise regarding this unit. A friend of mine has one of these in his Jurgens Fleetline. I cant find any info regarding this unit, not even the manufacturers.

1. Can the 12v outlet be connected to a battery, effectively using this as a battery charger?

2. If not, then can one make use of the existing wiring (12V) to lights and water pump by connecting these from the battery? Would this require isolating this from the Samson unit completely?

3.If it is not required to isolate this completely, then can one simply add a switch in between the battery and these wires to the battery? I would think then that you would have to be in the off position when the 220v is live and switched on when there is no 220v?

I would think as a safety measure you would be advised to switch off the trip switches, just in case the power comes on unexpectedly.

4.The intention is to fit an itelligent charger if the Samson 6 can not do the charging as he would also like to have caravan movers fitted at some stage soon.

Jannie I installed my charger at my battery (for my movers) running off the 230V from the SAMSON 6.. I believe it is only a psu and not a charger..

Thanks for your response. What I did was I drilled two holes in the floor near the junction box of the Samson unit. Ran the lead of the ctek intelligent charger to the 220v output to supply power to the charger. Connected the pos and neg to the battery. Now the battery will charge when the power is connected. Also the Samson units trip switches will be effective this way. I then disconnected the 12v output from the unit. So effectively now the unit is only for 220v. I then ran wires from the battery directly to 12v junction blocks in the van. Pos and Neg. This now means that the vans 12v lighingl comes directly from the battery. The van has both 220v and 12v lighting. Oh I forgot to mention that I fitted a fuse in line on the pos of the 12v leads. So all is protected. No need for additional switches. Works well. I will at a later stage fit more led lighting in the van and also the option of a 12v outside light.

Onlangs 'n 2004 Fleetline aangeskaf, sien hy kom met battery kompartement maar geen drade/pole daar nie. As die Samson 6 nie 'n laaier in het nie wat was die doel om 'n toegewyde area te maak vir die battery?

Ek dink dit was in die oorgaan stadium met die power supply wat nie meer 'n laaier funksie gehad het nie maar die nose cone is toe nog nie verander nie.

Ek vermoed dit maar net.  My dogter se wa het ook nie 'n battery met laaier in nie.  Dit bring mee dat as die wa nie aan 220V gekoppel is nie daar nie lig in die wa is as jy dalk iets wil uithaal nie.  Sal 'n plan vir haar maak met daai een.

Jy het 'n gulde geleentheid om dit self te verander dear dat jy klaar plek het vir die battery.
