Electricity and Water Issue and bad attitude of Management on Duty weekend 20th to 24th September 2013
I have been to Klipdraai a few times and had good weekends there but that was when there was not a lot of caravans there for the weekend. The weekend of 20th to 24th September there was over 300 caravans (they say +/- 60% over booked) and the weekend started with the electricity tripping all the time. Till Sunday you could hardly get any Hot Water on the abultions and then on Monday there was a shortage of water.
The manner in which the management on duty handled the situation/s was not acceptable and the attitude was generaly very bad.
There was even a incident when one of the managers on duty drove around the park like a lunatic and nearly injured a young child and the person showed no remorse at all.
The weekend at Klipdraai was very disappointing and I will not visit there again in a hurry especially when it's so booked

totally agree, management sucks. suck a pity that a resort with such nice facilities is so badly run. the incident happened to involved my son.
water and elec are a basic human right and its the least to expect when you pay for it. there way no communication to the campers. and yes you are right it was seriously over booked.
its time they ran the park properly, took deposits and allocated sites. we payed for 5 sites and were sqaushed in to what could max be the space for 3.
so in fact we over paid, when this was brought to the attention of management - nothing was done to resolve.
now they are getting shirty on FB. they have no iddea the power of social media.
4 of the 5 caravan clubs will not return that tells you something.
we were there earlier in the year - albeit the only 5 families there and the resort was nice - except half the amenities were not opened for us.
this visit will be our last, nobody like being ripped off !
I don't understand why the rating shows a green thumbs up for the resort.
Judging by the comments above it should be a thumbs down.

the thumbs up was from May when we were the only people in the park. on a long weekend its chaos. they say you have a booking but wont reserve a space. then there is no space left for any one. they over booked by 60% and there was no hot water, elec kept tripping. very poorly managed park, which is a pity as it has lovely facilities.

Unfortunately I have too agree with the above comments about klipdraai. We have visited this resort on numerous occasions and really enjoyed it, but this past weekend the resort was out of control. Overbooked, too many caravans/camper, toolittle ablutions services, NO hot water, and a serious lack of involvment by management. Today, Tuesday, the resort manager ( Mendis) was not even seen rushing around on his motor bike. Apart from the mentioned problems, we also experienced some serious misunderstanding at the entrance gate concerning the rates. We were 4 on a stand and invited 2 family members to visit overnight on friday as you are allowed 6 per stand at an extra cost of R50 per person and R50 per car. The R150 was handed over to the bloke at the gate who just placed the money in his pocket and allowed the people to come in. The same family members came in on Monday afternoon, again to sleep over. This time the same bloke charged them R350 for one night. After confronting him about the rates he changed it to R250 and then again to R150. I really wonder how many people were allowed into the resort at the wrong rates, and sorry to say so, wheather all the fees collected were correctly paid over. This weekends experince was very disappointing and I am sure that Klipdraai is going to feel the the general negativity from campers. I certainly hope that Klipdraai management will give their responsibilty to the camping public a serious think over.

i have tried to re rate the resort, but am awaiting Caravanparks.com to allow me as i had recently rated i have to now apply to rate again. hoping the y do allow as it will get a thumbs down. this was not our first time there - we had been before as mentioned when it was only us. they we great but after this weekend im afraid it is our last, and the way they are behaving on FB has really been the final straw for me.
we wont be back.
Never been to Klipdraai and now probably never will, unless management steps up to the plate and makes some changes.
I hope Glen and Lewies support Brent by also doing a rating. Hopefully this will then make them do some changes to the way they are operating.
I did try to "re-rate" but the system does not allow it as I have done an earlier rating.
I agree those who were there the weekend should do the rating. Please ensure that you include your comments under the general section where otherforum members and public may read your comments.

re-rating was approved and i have re rated the resort with comments.
it was really unfortunate as we had been looking fwd to going back after the last time as it really was nice last time. i have mailed the resort as well and lets see if the do call me back.
the lack of hot water i can live with, as i am happy to alter my shower times, but lack of elec and no water is where the line is drawn. plus being over charged was no on. if they ran the park with the same professionalism that they put into making it look great it would be a no brainer place.
simple things like a spreadsheet and deposit system would solve a .lot of issues as well and some soap dispensers in the ablutions.
and the straw that broke the camels back for me was the poor attitude of management and the lack their of, especially when in a tough spot the all disappeared and very little communication barring a few Afrikaans posts on FB. surely a walk around would have gone a long way.

This feedback on resort can become the campers most important asset if its used correctly. Its important that you provide clear and to the point comments which will enable us other campers to make up our own minds if we would go to a resort or not.
A Thumbs down is just not enough. More info please.
Maybe the rating should not be approved unless there are at least some general comments - send it back to the member who rated it
