Arrived at Dube yesterday, the resort was virtually full with only a few sites available. Fortunately we had pre booked our site 21. 

About 20 vans pulled out this morning with a handful of new arrivals. Facilities are nice and clean. Plenty for the young and old to do at the pools. 

Had a decent game drive earlier with a few nice sightings

We have reasonable data coverage even been able to do a few video calls with family.

 

Brian, thank you for the photos. Few animals as beautiful as an Eland and Sable Antelope. Of course there has to be a monkey to spoil the moment.

Home for 3 weeks then two week trip down to get to Hartenbos. Via Kroonstad , Waschbank or Gariep Dam, Karoo National Park and Oudtshoorn.

We have had rain every day here at Dube with some sunshine inbetween, first two days were heavy but thankfully today mostly sunshine. Expecting more rain later though 😲

Pretoria has been without much rain since new year.

Can’t wait for Sunday when we will be back in the peace and quiet.

What is the condition of the road to Dube? According to the "ratings" of this resort, it appears to be a badly corrugated road. Is this indeed the case? Can you dare to tow a conventional road caravan on this road?

Chris yes the road is currently quite corrugated with some bumpy spots but we got through quite easily without any issues and the there were plenty of road caravans there when we arrived exclusives, classiques, pentas palmas etc one just has to go very slowly (20kph) it‘s a 4km stretch.

The tar road between the N4 and turnoff to Dube also has a few potholes.

If one drives slowly 60 kph one has sufficient time to avoid them, we were able to. 

 

Yip everything was dry this morning 

we home safe and sound will start getting ready for the big tour next week. 

Chris, ongelukkig soos Brian B die paaie beskryf het, is korrek. Die teerpaaie om Brits het na goeie reën in laaste 2 maande redelik baie slaggate. 

Die kort [4km] stukkie grondpad na Dube is by vêrre die mees geskikste. Die grondpaaie van Dikoholo se kant af, is baie langer en gewoonlik baie slegter.    

Ek weet nie wanneer ek weer in daardie noordelike wêreld sal kom nie - waarskynlik nie vanjaar nie, want my geld is op na my besprekings vir die res van 2026 (Dwarswegstrand, Roemenië & Kgalagadi/Augrabies). Maar my ou padwaentjie sal maar eerder daardie paaie na Dube gespaar word.

Ons was lank laas by Dwarswegstrand en Kgalagadi gewees. Ek sal moet planne maak vir dit. Misken volgende jaar, 2026 is al klaar beplan.

Dwarswegstrandoord is puik. Ek lees dat hulle nou hul badkamers ook onlangs heeltemaal opgegradeer het en dat alle staanplekke nou plaveisel het
