ADVICE
We are planning our first visit to KNP in August. Advice please?

Hermann what info are you seeking?
Which camp/s are you looking to book into?

Jy moet maar kanselasies dophou....

I trust that the frequent visitors to the Kruger will provide you with the tips on how to make your bookings.
But you will need to provide a bit more info on where you plan to enter the Kruger and at what camps you would like to stay.
During winter getting a camping spot can be tricky but if you follow their hints and guide you could be sorted quickly.
GOD IS ALTYD TEENWOORDIG
Sonder Jesus is ek niks! ! ! !
If you are 60 or over you qualify for 'pensioner' discount from 18 August. You must however phone in to receive it.
There are not many stands available however, and as Geert mentioned you must watch out for (check availability) on the Sanparks website for cancelations.
Pretoriuskop and Punda appear to have a few nights available.
Living the dream
CK6P are powered sites
CK6 are non-powered sites.
Unless things have changed since i last visited in 2019, in Punda you may require very long power cables, power points are few are far apart.
Living the dream
Another factor to consider is whether you buy a Wild Card or not and if you do which one.
The break even is about 6 nights.

But as we have been to Kruger many times in the past, I suggest that you keep to the lower parts of Kruger, only because it's potentially closer to your point of entry and the Kruger is very big, so keeping your distance from camp is a point to keep in mind.
BERG-EN-DAL / CROCODILE BRIDGE / LOWER SABIE / SKUKUZA and PRETORIUSKOP
You will defiantly enjoy these areas as a beginner.
Depending on your “rig / campsite” and “your time” in the Kruger is a factor.
If your “time is limited”, then potentially stay at one camp and explore from there.
You don’t want to keep “setting up” at a new camp every so often, this simply takes a half a day and depending on your party and setup. Rather enjoy what’s outside the camp, instead of time spent setting up each time.
We normally stay at one camp and explore from there, as you already have so much to enjoy. Next time / year, because you will be back, we would go and camp at another camp and explore again. It’s simply easier that way.
You can’t ask what camp is the best, as they all have different atmospheres and facilities, and everyone has their own opinion, but if everyone could at least give their option where Hermannnnnnnn (lol) should start.
Thank you for participating on our Forums.
Take care.

Ek bespreek gewoonlik byvoorbeeld hierdie jaar reeds, vir volgende jaar se besoek.
