Upington Caravan Parks
Can anyone suggest a nice park in Upington to spend a week in. It would be for next April, so no hurry. I am tired of getting rained on at Easter time! Needs to be kid friendly.
Augrabies is not an option, since camping on gravel gives my wife sinus headaches. Was considering Oranjerus, Eiland or AugFalls Lodge. Anyone been there?
Hi Andrew
I've been to Oranjerus a couple years ago and it was fantastic. Beautifull abblutions greengrass stands and lots of trees. A concern however is the river for smaller kids. At that time they had only a swimmingpool. I personally will not camp at the Eiland.
Thanks Hennie. Why would you avoid Eiland?
The day we were there - during the week - the ablutions were so dirty my wife didnt even went into the ladies. It also had a bad smell no curtains or hooks for cloths in the showers etc. Even the park looked dirty and untidy.
Sorry to hear that Die Eiland has got to that state. I last went there in 2002 and it was clean and well maintained at that time.
Another place to consider is Spitskop Khalahari Monate. It is about 15 km out of town on the Twee Revieren road. Ideal for overnighting but not much to do if staying longer. Springbok and various birds to be seen in the camp. There is a game park on the other side of the road.
Thanks Hendrik, I did consider it, but it would be for about a week long stay.
