Hi, I recently bought a Sprite sprint 1992 model caravan. I'm looking for a copy of the User Handbook spesifically for the use of the fridge (gas, 12v and 220v) and the washing basin (water supply and wiring).

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gerhard Welcome to the forum.

The manual of the caravan usually does not include the detail of the frdge or microwave.  You can take the name and model of the fridge and google so see if you can get the info you want.  Maybe you are lucky that someone will have the manual of the fridge.  It will help if you place a photo of the fridge so that it will be easier to identify what fridge you are talking about.

Then the caravan manual also does not specify any wiring diagrams of any thing.  What I can tell you about the wiring is the following:

The negative terminal of the battery is wired directly to the water pump.  The positive terminal goes first to the micro switch in the tap then to the pump.  If you have more than one tap the microswitches are connected in parallel.  If you open any tap the pump will work.

Below every tap is a black connecter block.  If you bridge the wires comming from up in the cubboard from below, the pump should start to work. 

The 12V lights work in a similar way.  Negative directly each light and positive 1st to the switch then to the lights

I think I have a User manual for a Sprite Caravans.  As the manual is generally the same one for all model Sprite Caravans. I must just check.

Hi Leon, thank you for the response. Unfortunately I couldn't get any info on google for the fridge. I think everything is in order, wire wise but I'm thinking about the operation of the fridge and basin.

For the Fridge, When connected to 220V the light is ON on the chargecontroller. This means the fridge will work with 220V when selected (220V fridge Light on) but the inside and outside light is still 12V and is controlled by the chargemaster. In what position should the ON/CHARGE swith be and what is the difference?

When disconnected from the 220V supply. The light on the chargemaster is off. The inside and outside light is still working (12V) supplied by the battery situated under the seat. When the 12V option is selected on the fridge, the 12V fridge light stays off. I'm woried that it's not fuctioning via 12V supply. I'm busy fixing the door, as soon as it's back in it's place, I will check if it's working and maybe only the 12V dislay light not working.

I think what I would like to confim is my understanding of the system so far?

This weekend I will fiddle with the basin and water supply to try and make sense of how it works.

The fridge only works on 12v from the car. It is not connected to your caravan battery. The fridge 12v element draws about 10A continuously.

Thanks for the info. Only a normal 7pin trailer plug is currnetly connected to the caravan. This is probably only possible when an additional anderson plug is connected from the car, correct?

Just to clarify, so the battery under the single bed is for powering the lights only? and not the fridge? To check if the lights were working I connected a 15ah battery and yes when 12V on the fridge is selected the small indicator did not come on. I thought the amps from the 15ah battery might be to low.

So then, when disconnected from the car there are two ways to operate the fridge: 
220V and GAS?

I have not yet tested the gas. Older models had a pilot flame on the outside. I did not see one this model. Maybe just a quick operating instruction on the gas function?

Yes all you have said is correct.

Usually pin 2 (spare) of the 7 pin plug is connected via a relay to the car’s battery. This not standard and must be fitted specially, as a fridge wire. On the caravan side pin 2 is wired to the 12v element of the fridge. Also usually not standard wiring.

If you have some spare time and maybe know the ropes for running it on gas i'll appreciate your inputs.

The way is think it works is:
1. select the switch on way right to ON
2. Turn the gas nop counter clockwsie from OFF to ON (Until the light is on) 
3. Push the nob on the left for a spark. (how to know it's lit , I dont know)

One more thing: the dial on the right is only the temperature setting dail (Min and Max) correct? It's got nothing to do with the Gas, I presume it's got only one temperature setting then.

All correct except…

The gas On light will go on when the flame is lit. Push the knob repeatedly until the LED gas on stays on.

The Min and Max controls the temperature on gas and 220v and 12v. Just leave it on Max.

I don’t know what the switch on the extreme right is for.

There should also be a push button to override the flame out valve while you are pushing the spark ignitor button.

Also remember initially there will be air in the gas pipe which must be bled off by pushing the flame out override button. Push the flame out override until the gas comes out and then start pushing the spark button.

Gerhard jy moet ook kyk na die pype wat die gas verder vat tot by die yskas en stoof.  Afhangende van die ouderdom van jou wa kan hule ook al ge-perish het, veral waar die pyp redelik skerp buig.

Spuit met seep oplossing dis verbasend hoe maklik jy die  lek plekke sien en opspoor.
