Unimog Freunde Club at Pretoria Cars in the Park
After Covid things Cars in the Park took to the stage again on 31 July.
17 Unimogs attended of which 14 were fully rigged campers. These were open to the spectators to see what each has and how we camp.
The furtherest drive was from Hoedspruit to show the 2450L camper. Thank you Loot Schulz for joining us from way far away.
We also displayed two 1959 411 Unimogs. Both runners and in excellent restored condition.
Early morning start-up saw some grey head onlookers stand in silence, remembering the sound of the 352’s and the smell of diesel smoke from years back. With a tear in the eye now and then their day was made.
A rolling chassis was on display to show onlookers some of the truck’s mechanical magic.
A great day that ended with a lot of new friends.
Our next gathering is in the planning and will be a road trip to somewhere.
Look out for the Mogs on the road. Hoot and greet. We are a friendly bunch.

The camper will visit Badplaas in November.
If you are there come and say howzit. I will start it for you depending on your age 😀
NOU weet ek wat Vader Kersfees vir my kan bring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic vehicle in terms of off-road capabilities. They were initially used in the Army as Off road ambulance and as fire brigade. My personal experience with them in my ARMY days are, it is as strong as an elephant but slow as a donkey.
Sonder Jesus is ek niks! ! ! !

Ours were not slow they guys even rolled one - sadly one of my friends lost his life in the accident.
The max speed we could get out of them (under its own power) was 75 - 85 km/h.
😛😃

On the roads in the Caprivi Strip that was plenty fast enough. I would not like to be in one of those at a speed any higher than that on any road even a dead straight three lane highway.

Very true........................ 😛😄

Sadly my army licence stated "Alle voertuie behalwe Unimog". Because of being left hand drive I suppose.
On the brighter side, in those days one could convert the army licence to civvy st. and I still have code EC.
And then there's, Power Tools!
