The most outstanding feature of this working sheep farm, apart from its scenic setting, is its absolute sense of peace and quiet while the constant murmer of running water lulls you into complete relaxation.
For those interested in yesteryear, Kruisrivier provides interesting historical features. Your hosts, Basie and Mandi Strydom, stem from the Strydom-family who has farmed Kruisrivier since 1759.
Guests are accommodated in the renovated horse stable, Wagon-house, Newsroom and Miller's house. Other historical attractions include an old water-mill.
Kruisrivier Guest Farm allows for a number of outdoor activities such as fishing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking and bird watching.
There is much to occupy children of all ages: swings, crab catching in the streams,seepkis kart racing, canoeing and paddle boats on the dam.
There are several farmyard animals to meet like geese, koekoek chickens, a dog and a cat.
Tourist attractions close-by include the Kango Caves, the Swartberg Pass, the Hell, Meiringspoort, Cango Wildlife Ranch, Wilgewandel, Calitzdorp (South-Africa Port Capital), Calitzdorp Spa, Gamka Mountain Nature Reserve and the Van Wyksdorp Pass. The 4X4 enthusiast may take a day trip to Minwater (Volmoed) or to Matjiesvlei (Calitzdorp).
