Information
Situated at the foothills of the majestic Swartberg Mountains between Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp, Kruisrivier Guest Farm offers Bed & Breakfast, self catering or camping for those who love to get away from the bustle of everyday life. The most outstanding feature of this working sheep farm, apart from its scenic setting, is its absolute sense of peace and quiet while the constant murmer of running water lulls you into complete relaxation. For those interested in yesteryear, Kruisrivier provides interesting historical features. Your hosts, Basie and Mandi Strydom, stem from the Strydom-family who has farmed Kruisrivier since 1759. Guests are accommodated in the renovated horsesâ€TM stable, wagonhouse, newsroom and millerâ€TMs house. Other historical attractions include an old water-mill.
Kruisrivier Guest Farm allows for a number of outdoor activities such as fishing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking and bird watching. There is much to occupy children of all ages: swings, crab catching in the streams, †̃seepkis karâ€TM racing, canoeing and paddle boats on the dam. There are several farmyard animals to meet like geese, koekoek chickens, a dog and a cat. Tourist attractions close-by include the Kango Caves, the Swartberg Pass, the “Hellâ€, Meiringspoort, Cango Wildlife Ranch, Wilgewandel, Calitzdorp (South-Africaâ€TMs Port Capital), Calitzdorp Spa, Gamka Mountain Nature Reserve and the Van Wyksdorp Pass.
