Access is clearly marked. The last 5 - 10km is on a gravel road. The road is in an excellent condition. Leisure is mainly fishing and walking but the resort has a pool and a neat games room. Staff are extremely willing and helpful. Ablutions are old but spotless. They are cleaned daily. Security excellent with guards patrolling at night. There is a well-stocked shop on site with all the basic necessities. Very peaceful and quiet park with an abundance of birds. Sites grassed and mostly level. This park is a hidden gem if you enjoy fishing and peace and quiet.

Access to the resort is good, and the gravel roads properly maintained. Being just outside of Pietermaritzburg close the the Albert Falls Dam, I would really suggest this resort to anyone looking for a quick getaway to relax, without having to travel too far. There is a lovely huge pool to relax in and a jungle gym play area for the kids to enjoy. The atmosphere is very relaxing and you are surrounded by nature at it's best. There is a nice pub where you can enjoy the rugby game with great company. Breakfast the next morning was very nice, just what we needed. Lise and Simon were fantastic, they assisted when we needed help and we really enjoyed their company throughout the evening. The cabins we stayed in were very comfortable and clean and I will definitely be returning in future. Thank you so much for accommodating all of us and making it a stay we will never forget.

Our 4 day stay at Peatties Lakeside Resort was amazing!
I don’t know about everyone else but my ideal getaway is a peaceful, relaxing and quite one together with a bit of fun activities to relax the brain from our everyday busy lifestyles.
Myself and hubby decided that we wanted to take a little brake, somewhere where we could feel at home and where we can be our self’s, not a 5 star resort where everything is perfect, just a resort that is down to earth clean, green and that has friendly staff… turns out we made a good decision when we chose to visit Peatties Lakeside Resort. Its less than 30 min drive from Pietermaritzburg, getting their was really easy (Google Maps), we did not have trouble with to many pot holes or a rocky road except for the little holes here and there but that was nothing. The Access road into the resort is one of the finest gravel roads I have seen.
Clean ablutions and laundry facilities with hot water are available to use as well as a scullery for dishes to be washed. We did not get to use the laundry or the scullery as we staid in a cabin that had toilet facility and a kitchen area that was very equipped.
The resort is set between two dams in the Umgeni Valley stocked with bass and tilapia, wide open spaces are available for children to play as well as a jungle jim with swings, 18 hole put put course, table tennis, soccer table, pool, walking trails and for the adults a pool table, darts, a bar, bird watching, and fishing.
We chose to make use of the pool area during the day; a clean, clear pool with short green grass is what you can expect (we thought it was well maintained), we did not feel the need to lock anything up, although we did. There is security at the gate and the staff was very friendly too, I can gladly say that the atmosphere was great and that we got value for our money. We will return to Peatties lakeside resort any day.
Thank you to Malcolm and Rose McQueen for their very friendly assistance and for doing such a good Job with the resort.

The roads are not that bad to Peatties Lake. The ablutions are really well kept and the staff really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Sites grass was well maintained. Very safe resort.
