The World Heritage Site of the Island of Mozambique and its fortified city.  A former Portuguese trading post on the route to India, bears a remarkable architectural unity due to the consistent use of the same building methods, materials and decorative techniques.

National Parks in Mozambique include Quirimbas, Gorongoza, Zinale, Bazaruto, Limpopo and Banhine National Parks as well as the National Reserves of Niassa, Gili, Marromeu, Chimanlmani, Pomene and Maputo. These national parks and reserves offer sanctuary to a wide variety of wildlife, marine life, birds and fragile ecosystems, as well as activities including game viewing, bird watching, 4x4 routes, fishing, hiking & various guided tours.

Area Attractions

Snorkelling spots can be found at nearly every beach and there are daily boat trips to various reefs and dive sites for both scuba diving and snorkelling.

Tropical palm-lined beaches offer sun-filled days of swimming, surfing, snorkelling, fishing and just enjoying the warm Indian Ocean water.

From July to September dolphin and whale watching is a favourite and a boat trip to see these marine mammals is a must.

Seafood seems to be the staple diet of most tourists; fresh prawns, fish, calamari, clams and crayfish can be bought from the local fishermen.

Markets selling everything from fruit, vegetables and fresh bread to wine, clothing and curios can be found on nearly every corner and most vendors are willing to barter.
