Muchenje Campsite and Cottages

Muchenje Campsite & Cottages is a family owned and managed camp set in the Chobe Enclave, 7.2km from the Chobe National Park Ngoma gate.

We offer camping and self-catering accommodation on a peaceful, secure and beautifully treed property on the borders of the National park. Muchenje is a serene setting for your stay, and provides a perfect base from which to explore the less crowded western end of the Chobe National park.

It is also a perfect stop over for 4x4 enthusiasts wishing to visit Linyanti and Savuti or to spend a night on your way to the Caprivi Strip in Namibia.

Resort facilities: 10 spacious well shaded level campsites, set under tall flat crown acacia trees on the elevated banks of the Chobe Floodplain.

We ensure safe and secure camping within the boundaries of the property electric fence, and there is a security guard patrolling every night. Each campsite can sleep between 4 and 6 campers, and each site has its own braai stand and clean running water.

There are 4 separate ablutions units; each containing its own basin, toilet and solar assisted hot water showers.

Outdoor wash-up and laundry areas are available. In our quest to be eco-friendly our ablutions are managed by the latest Biorock systems. 3 charming self-catering cottages each with a fully equipped, open plan kitchen, en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower. Each cottage has an outside covered verandah with beautiful views. These railway cottage inspired chalets each contain a double bed and can sleep 2 people.

At reception Visa and Mastercards are welcome. There is a small shop where you can replenish basic supplies such as cold drinks, ice, firewood and seasonal vegetables (grown on site). At reception there is also a Wi-Fi hotspot so that you can keep in touch with those not lucky enough to be on holiday with you.

Laundry services are available at reception for a fee. In the grounds all guests have the use of the communal sundowner terrace and the thatched chapel There is fantastic birding on site.

Outside resort nearby attractions Your hosts are long term residents in the area and will be happy to offer you advice and friendly assistance during your stay with us. We are happy to organice cultural village tours in the nearby villages 5 km away.

We can organize boat cruises ex-Kasane 60km from Muchenje. We can also organise Victoria Falls day trips ex Kasanse, it is 70km to Victoria Falls from Kasane.

From Muchenje you can do full day trips all along the Chobe National Park River front, or do half a day driving through the National Park to do a boat cruise from Kasane and return the same day.
