Hi There Trekkers,
It is cold !! Brrrrrrrrr, but we are glad of the rain. This was the theme of the Outspan this month.
Marieta and Leslie, Angela and David, Vanessa and Wayne and Sally and Adrian and Chad were
the brave Trekkers who ventured out this weekend despite the weather forecast! It had been a
beautiful day on Friday, so that must have encouraged them. I only visited on the Saturday,
so I am reporting hearsay mostly!

The owner of the park, John had given us permission to use the enclosed braai area, so at least
there was shelter from the wind which came up in the evening. It was great to welcome Marieta
and Leslie back after their overseas visit to Louise and family in Scotland. They would have had
a good catch up chat with a few tipples no doubt.

Saturday morning was windy and cloudy and the and the ladies were upset because the showers
were cold !! Sally went off to a friend's Birthday and the boys were playing hockey with golf
clubs when I arrived. Marieta and Les were off somewhere and the rest of the folks were just
trying to keep warm.
In the afternoon David had invited us to celebrate his Birthday with tea and cake, which was
good to cheer us up and enjoy the delicious cakes. We held Indaba, and chatted on, wondering
how we were going to manage to cook the potjIes with the rain. The hub entertainment place was
sheltered from the wind with the roll downsides, but it was leaking in the rain. Adrian to the
rescue with his gazebo, which was soon erected inside and we were able to make the fires and sit
under it for shelter. All the competitors were busily chopping veg etc and preparing their various
potions to add to the soups. The breads were cooking slowly and we were all looking forward to
the tasting. Once we were ready for the marking, Angela gave us the forms to mark the bread and
the soup separately, which we did and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The results were announced
the next morning.

Sunday morning was still wet and miserable, and everyone packed up and left quite early.

Well Done Leslie and Marieta!
Their soup was a Hearty Beef and Pea and Lentil soup and Roosterkoek accompaniment.
Just the thing for a cold and wet and windy evening!

INDABA David welcomed us to the right place. We wished him Happy Birthday!

APOLOGIES Were received from, Carol, Sue and Doug, Alex and Colleen, Nikki and Denis,
Judy and Steven, Allen and Meryl, Martin and Jill and Me.
