9 – 12 August 2018

We all met at Worcester Spur for breakfast at 9am on Thursday morning and then set off on the long road to Ladismith.

We arrived at Warmwaterberg at around 12.30 and set up camp. The plots were rather small but we managed.

After relaxing for a bit we walked around the camp exploring what was available. The sun was out but it was a bit chilly.

That evening we huddled around the fire as it was freezing cold. Vanessa and Wayne managed to get one of the hot tubs open and were nice and toastie before getting into bed. Needless to say, I had hauled out the electric blanket and slept with it on all night.

Friday morning we were all up bright and breezy and decided to head into Barrydale and landed up having decadent milkshakes at Diesel and Creme. We wandered around the few shops and then went back to camp for brunch.  Spent the afternoon chatting and relaxing.

Wayne made us a delicious pulled pork dinner and we sat chatting in Nigel’s tent. Mark, Susarah, Mathew and Charlotte went to have a nice leisurely hot swim in the bathhouse. Susarah came running for Nigel to assist as Mark was overwhelmed with the steam and nearly fainted. He soon recovered and after all the excitement everyone went to bed. Next morning we were all up early and after breakfast, we decided to take a drive up over the mountains and stopped alongside the road in the freezing wind for a pitstop and snack break.

We stopped off at Ronnie’s Sex Shop for a drink and to see how it has grown. Back at camp we booked a table at the restaurant for 7 pm and chilled at our vans. I decided to take advantage of the hot pools which was fab. Some crazy people even swam in the cold pools.

We all met at 6.30 and wandered down to the restaurant. The food was very good and we had a lovely evening there. Back at camp we had Hot Chocolate, Coffee etc and sat chatting before turning in for the night.  Sunday morning we were up bright and breezy and had breakfast going swiftly. We relaxed a bit and around 1 pm started packing up. We hit the road at around 2,30 leaving Nigel and Carol to enjoy a night alone.

It was really a lovely weekend. Definitely a camp for more than 3 days as it takes around 3.5 to 4 hours to get there.
