The Bazaruto Archipelago is a cluster of four islands; Bazaruto Island, Benguerra Island, Magaruque Island and Santa Carolina Island.  The warm Indian Ocean waters and coral gardens attract an abundance of fish and where the continental shelf drops sharply into the deep blue Mozambique Channel is where the big game fish are found, including Giant Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Kingfish, Barracuda, a variety of Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, King Mackerel and Queen Mackerel.

Geckoing down the Sabie River in a small one man raft that you steer with webbed gloves is loads of fun and is safe for all your friends and family.  The Grade 1 rapids are exhilarating and even though the gradient is quite steep and the river is narrow you can float along the course of the river with minimal effort and steering.  For those not brave enough for Grade 5 white water rafting, Geckoing is the perfect alternative yet still full of high adrenaline experiences.

You are strapped into your seat in the front of a glider, ready to go!  The winch at the other end starts up and in a matter of seconds you are airborne and gliding effortlessly on the thermals.  You can see for miles in every direction and the only sound is the air rushing over the plane.  Flights can be as long as 30 minutes or as short as 5, depending on the wind and the thermals on the day.  Take a picnic along and relax in the shade of the trees as you take turns going up in the glider.

Hiking – Golden Gate Highlands National Park, Free StateIn the heart of South Africa stand the red sandstone buttresses of the Golden Gate.  Trails range from 1 to 5hr hikes to the 2-day Rheebok Hiking Trail that covers over 32kms.  The beautiful scenery, prolific birdlife and game viewing, along with the deep blue Free State sky and crystal clear stream waters make this one of the best places to hike in the country.  Hiking trails criss-cross over the rugged landscape and during the winter months the area is usually covered in snow.

Whether you’re an experienced rider or a nervous beginner, horse riding is great fun for the whole family.  Riding along the beach with the waves lapping at your horses feet, the warm sea air blowing through your hair and the warm African sun on your face, it’s a dream come true.  Rides are based on rider experience, less advanced rides are quieter with usually only walking and perhaps a little trot, while the more seasoned riders get to have a good gallop along the shoreline.
