Hi guys,

I am new to caravanning, so please excuse my dumb questions....

I want to replace the fridge in my Sprite surfer (new or second-hand). The space available is 490 wide x 1150 mm height. It is 230v supply only.

Seems caravan fridges are as rare as arctic hens teeth. Can anybody perhaps point me to a supplier, or if anybody has one for sale...

Why the reason for change? I'll bet you have a 3-way fridge that does not operate as you want it to?

And yes, the chances you will find a fridge that will simply pop into the existing space is very remote.

Current fridge is damaged and not operating reliably.

It is presently a simple 230v, not 3 way (sadly). Also, not well laid out and door storage restrainers broken. Hoping to find a bar fridge or something similar....

Do not know whether it will fit.

Will be damn close, the Hisense is (W×D×H)|(mm): 519 x 589x 1130. The OP has to fund 30mm in the width.

The truth is it may make financial sense to adjust the cabinetry to make it fit. There is space available on both sides.

I replaced my Scout fridge with the same and my son-in-law also fitted the same to his Gypsey Rapier.

DEFY sells a fridge that should fit in the space.  This fridge also works of a battery and solar panels.

Maybe its the way to go for your caravan.  Last I checked the price for it was R8000. A bit expensive but Is it really for what you get under the ESKOM conditions we live.

I have an inverter in the caravan, but still battling to find a fridge to fit. Do you perhaps a model description for the defy fridge ?

Richard, many modern varavans there days, are fitted with common compressor type fridges. They are quite cheap, effective and super quiet, at least the Defy in our Oyster is. But finding one with the correct dimentions looks like a bit of a problem. Might it perhaps at a last resort, be possible to adjust the space for the fridge?
