The road trip so far.

two roads diverged in a wood and i took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.
Of your stays so far, what town has been your most enjoyable stay and which caravan park?

Port Alfred, at Green Fountains caravan park. having said that we have never had a bad stay anywhere but if we had to stop and settle now , that would be the place,

Must keep that on my bucket list. Sometime probably in 6 months we will travel to our friends in Barrydale, and that will be on route. Liked Port Alfred but we stayed in log cabin timeshare so the park would be good to visit and probably Mt Zebra park again and Ebb and Flow in Knysna.
Toured New Zealand and did 1-2 days stop overs and 6000km in 3 months.
Need to make this a 3 month tour and a week or 2 stop over at each point.

My first post although I've been reading the forum for a while. George, I envy your journey. It sounds awesome. However, I have one comment. Have you considered staying at Strandfontein instead of Lamberts Bay. In my opinion I'll prefer Strandfontein.

Hi chris, keeping in mind we will be moving up the west coast out of season when most parks are almost empty [ and we get the best rates ] Strandfontein is not one of the parks we would want to stand alone on as there does not appear to be much in the line of security there.

True story. Enjoy the W Coast

Thanks George. Does Dibiki has some type of nice views from caravan park? Do you know by any change how the facilities are at Heroldsbay caravan park?

Dibiki, now that you mention it probaly the only negative is that there is no view from anyside of the park. Other then that a 5 star park.
Herolds bay, whilst we didnot stay there we did visit the park, our only concern [ being a seaside park ] would be weekend campers.

If I am not mistaken, there is an informal settlement just across the road from the camp. I am not a fan of HBay as we enjoy beach walking and at HBay, you only have a hundred to two hundred meters of beach.

Hi George
Not trying to be nosy, but why 3 months in Kamieskroon? Drove around the town a bit in September last year and stayed on a farm a few k's from the town - nothing much to see there unless it's the flower season and pay a visit to Skilpad National Park nearby.
Been there--done it. ( Talking about the bathroom )

I guess for that very reason is why there rates are quite low [ by western cape standards ] and remain unchanged throughout the year. We may still juggle our plans around a little as they are never set in stone and only stay Dec and Jan just to escape the seasonal bustle on the coast line.
At the moment our spring board to nambia aswell , but as mentioned, all subject to change at any given time.

Wow George thanks for update lekke man

Dec, Jan and Feb in Kamieskroon? I guess they do not escalate their rates during those months because the temperature is then escalated. ðŸËÅ
George, I guess many of us will be interested in the answer to this question - if you don't mind, what is your average total monthly budget, everything included? (medical aid, gap cover, short term insurance and DSTV already chows R 9350 of ours)
It is not how old one is that matters, it is how one is old that matters. One do not stop playing because one is old ââ¬â one is old because one stopped playing.
