Who has stayed at this campsite in St Lucia and what is it like? Is this the only campsite in the Wetlands. Want to plan ahead after Baviaanskloof.

Apparantly it has been upgraded somewhat.

If you're going to visit the parks, Imfolosi / Hluhluwe, there are a couple of very nice caravan parks around Hluhluwe. Fairly close to Memorial gate and also False Bay park is not far away on the Sordwana road.

I will be watching this as well. Last time I have been there was in 1996.  Sure like to visit St Lucia again.

You can also try Cape Vidal it forms part of the game reserve and it  is easy accessable via tar road from St Lucia. It has a nice swimming, snorkling and fishing beach. The caravan park is walking distance from the beach and boat launching area.

Cape Vidal sounds a good place to go and for the life of me cannot remember if we have visited it. Definately not stayed there and could be confusing it with Sordwana Bay where we stayed and swam with the dolphins, a high light in our lives. Remember a tearoom on right hand side of beach and cabins.

Have heard about hippos in the camp at Sugar loaf and have a healthy respect for them, and reading the past posts on Sugarloaf sounds like the place has been upgraded, and it would probably be the place we would stay. Our friends Bushlapa weighs 1.5 ton loaded so do not think he wants to tow further. We can do day trips to Cape Vidal and the game reserves. Does the Sanpark Wild Card also cover the Wetlands as i read it is not part of Ezemvelo Parks but the independant Wetlands park?

No the wild card does not cover Isimangaliso wetland park.

There are numerous nice camps in the area.

Sugar Loaf is fine, but there was a spate of crime reported in the area a while ago. We had no problems staying there.

Three Palms camp a bit north (very neat & tidy on the sea flats, as well as Bush Baby Lodge south of the town near Imfolozi/Hluhluwe. There is also Ezimviyelo or something similar near the top (above the town I mentioned above, but only power from 18h00 to 20h00 and the from 06h00 to 08h00...

Be careful along the coastal sites like Black Rock, where there have been attacks on tourists. We also stayed at a camp close to there, but it had an insane number of staiurs to get to the beach, where they were busy building a Lodge when we were last there...
