Good day to All,

My Elsat portable TV dish (38cm diameter) kit was stolen last week. I am sure many of you may be familiar with this kit. Apparently "ELLIES" who manufactured this kit does not exist anymore. I camp mainly at ATKV Hartenbos and had excellent service from the Elsat unit and wish to replace it soonest.

Any advice on which product will be a suitable replacement? 

Please note, I would prefer a unit with a small (38cm diameter dish) as I noted campers using units with the larger 80cm dishes have problems during strong winds, especially if their caravan stands (like mine) have sea views (open to the elements).

Hi Johan I have one complete kit (38cm) including the signal finder in its case. But we also in Gauteng (although I‘m in Hartenbos atm ) 

Hi Brian, Thank you for your reply! I contacted just about all suppliers/dealers but could not find a new kit. And yes, there are quite a few 2nd kits for sale but I was "warned" to make sure the "LNB" unit on the center of the dish is in working condition.

However, I am interested in your kit. Please let me know if you are still in Hartenbos and if you can courier the kit to me (I am in Wellington Western Cape). Please Email your bank details and price for the kit to me at  johanncraf@yahoo.com. As soon as I receive your info I will do an EFT and send you my address details. Thanks a lot, Johann

Johann, interesting to read that your dish was stolen? Was this mounted at the time, or in transit?

I have exactly the same Ellies kit (donated to me when I was looking for this "hen's teeth"). Could not for the love of me find such a dish. But, as said, eventually came right!

Good morning Nico, the dish with accessories were in it's case, in the under-bed storage of the caravan. The caravan is parked on my premises under the carport, 7 meters from my house. Although I leave lights on at the carport every night, the thieves broke a window on the off-side of the caravan to gain entrance. Between the off-side of the caravan and the wall there is a 800mm "passage" that makes thieves "invisible" while doing their dirty work. I am having laser beams fitted next week.

Wow .... bargain! I had to buy a new LNB and paid (I think) something like R 350 for it.
