Replaced reading lights with LEDs but they not working
Hi all,
We decided to replace the normal reading lights in our Penta with LED down lights (for a house) but they not working. I’m sure there’s plenty we missing but anyone know why ð¤ð«£ and how we can get them working.
Thanks so much.
Is it 12v ( MR16) or 220v ( GU10) ?
It’s 220v (GU10)
And the previous lights- were they 220V AC or 12V DC? Luckily you get both types in downlighters.

Ummmmmm I’m not sure ð¤. It’s the old caravan lights that we took out.
Is there any way to change that or add something to make them compatible.
Thanks so much for all your help ð
I would suggest you rather get somone locally to advise you it is safer. However, if you refer to the downlighter terinals you can buy the correct ones at an electric company like ACDC.

Lol agreed, thanks so much for your input
12v has 2pin, 220v has small knobs, the lamp holders are different
Ya we have put the 220v into the van and they not working. The previous lights worked but were also working when plugged into the mains with no battery connected in the van, so assumed they were 220v units. As they say assumption. But ya will get a qualified Electrician to come have a look at it.
You also get the two pin in 220V not just 12V
Ok thanks so much
Two pin 220v lamps is not supposed to be in the country anymore. They are illegal and dangerous.

I didn’t know that they existed
There are still plenty being advertised

I actually purchased some at Chamberlains not too long ago, than saw them at Builders Hardware as well
Also never seen

If they are 220V then connect them to 220V out side your van and see if they work. Even try to change the polarity on them outside the van and see if the work (Should not be a problem). If they work either way outside then the supply to the lights is 12V and not 220V
What year caravan is this?
