Relocated Van Zyls Resort / Swellendam / De Bakke Santos
We relocated Saturday to Swellendam to stay with family for the weekend and today moved on to De Bakke Santos at Mossel Bay.
Seaview stands are a bit small for my large van but decided to remain on the stand as we are not going to erect the rally as we are only here for a week. A little disappointed as the stand has an electrical box in front blocking some of the view and the never told us as such when we booked and it was the only sea view stand available. At least we can see the sea. Ablutions are very nice clean, modern and there is a laundry with washing machines and a dryer.
Weather is rather overcast today and we expect a bit of rain.
Sjoe, ek is beindruk met die mooi badkamers. Geniet julle week daar Brian!
WAARSKUWING:
Kampeer is aansteeklik en verslawend ðŸËÂ

Having a closer look the building in front of us is actually a medical station. Currently closed however I assume it's active during the peak periods.
Hi Brian. If you had to choose, ATKV Hartenbos or De Bakke? That is out of season.
In my view ATKV Hartenbos without a doubt especially if you plan on staying for a month.
- Stands are much bigger at ATKV. Here everyone is on top of each other, on most sites the neighbours guy ropes cross over each other.
- Easier access to your stand the roads are wider at ATKV. Smaller van would not have a problem though at De Bakke.
- Ablutions are cleaned more frequently at ATKV. ATKV's upgraded ablutions are definitley at the next level though and they are in the process of upgrading the rest. De Bakke ablutions are on par with the older ones at ATKV and are good, way better than a lot of municipal parks we have been to.
- Plus side here the non sea view stands are all under trees (Pine) however then there is no grass and very muddy when it rains.
- ATKV have many paved sites and are busy laying more. They are planning to have the whole of block E paved by next season - not sure if they will though, some ATKV campers doubt this will happen by then. We will see next year when we arrive.
- De Bakke is much cheaper than ATKV (R2990 vs R5760) for a month during the same period. De Bakke also have a weekly pensioners rate of R 1001
Overall we've had a much better experience at ATKV than De Bakke. Having experienced them both I would prefer to stay at ATKV Hartenbos than De Bakke.

Great meeting you today.
Nice meeting you guys today. Enjoy your stay.
Thanks Brian. Price wise, quite a difference. We looked at De Bakke when we were down there, not bad but would choose ATKV as well.
Paul welcome to the forum.
Glad you came by, was great meeting you and wish you well for the purchase of your van. Hoping we can camp together sometime soon, as twins :)
