Overnight camoing recommendation margate & kei river
Please recommend overnight camping between margate and kei river mouth.
Recent road conditions would be a bonus
Unfortunately nothing between Kokstad & Kei Mouth, N2 is the best route, have a very early start on a Sunday, you would be fine! Hopefully you are going to Morgan’s bay not Kei mouth for camping.
If staying overnight at Kokstad, you can try Mount Currie Nature Reserve, just north of Kokstad. Access is via a 5km gravel road, which hopefully is still in a good enough condition for a caravan.
The reserve is run by Natal Parks Board - the Ph number is
033 845 1000 or 033 845 1999. Open from 6am to 6pm and probably still only take cash payments. I see Flip and Tella stayed there in Oct 2021 and had no problems.
The N2 from Kokstad to East London is in a pretty good condition in most places, but I advise you to pass through Mthatha on a Sunday to avoid the constant traffic - keep doors and windows shut.
Been there--done it. ( Talking about the bathroom )
