Comparison: Gonubie park, PSA resort in Gonubie and White Clay near Coffee Bay,
Please give your opinion, based on experience or first hand info, of the above three caravan parks (intend going there in Dec 2023).
Basic requirements/nice-to-haves:
- camp site (grass/shade perhaps?)
- Clean ablutions - old is OK as long as functional
- 220V power
- close access or even view of the ocean (swimming in sea not prerequisite)
Just some basic thoughts??
We are not familiar with the Eastern Cape/Wild Coast - our first time going there!!
Other suggestions are also welcome, tx.
Your valued comments (and images??) are appreciated.
Regards.

Elu try YellowSands or Areena Riverside Resort just north of Gonubie They are in the same area Been there many times Excellent caravan parks
Areena is on the lagoon while Yellowsands is on the beach Both excellent for fishing
I can give you both there tel numbers Yellowsands 0437343043 Areena 0437343055

Hi Egbert
I live in Gonubie, but have never camped at the Municipal campsite.
I took a walk around the site today ( Sunday) and found only one site in use. Most of the sites are either graveled or stoned, with a few grassed and in need of cutting. They have built a new management office and upgraded most of the ablution blocks. The whole site is fenced or walled in and there was a security guard on duty. The Gonubie River and beach are only a stones throw from the park. Unfortunately the area can be overrun by unruly beach-goers and car-park drinkers during the festive season. For this reason I would follow Benkie's advice and rather go to Yellow Sands or Arena further up the coast. ( you will need to drive to the beach if staying at Arena which is on the banks of the river ).
I will try and post some photos of Gonubie.
Been there--done it. ( Talking about the bathroom )
Thank you to all for the contributions - much appreciated. Regards.

Any experience with Palm Springs holiday resort in Kidds Beach ?
Hi Mawonga
Unfortunately I have not visited most of the caravan parks near East London, even though I live in the area.

Once again thank you to all for their informative inputs/comments/opinions and even some images!! This is much appreciated.
We have opted for White Clay in Coffee Bay - Deposit paid, now the long wait for year-end.
Closer to the time (± Oct/Nov 23) I will most likely raise a new 'Topic' here relating to the route and road conditions at the time.
Regards.
Morgan Bay is good, but they are fully booked for Dec. I drove to Double Mouth. They are currently totally revamping all facilities, while the new braais are been finished off, completed.
By Dec all should be complete
