Nice idea Gavin, it might also keep some other unwanted guests out.
It is amazing how you have to organise yourself when you camp in a park where there are monkeys. You really love and hate them at the same time. Their intelligence impresses you and can be entertaining, but they really make life difficult for you. Always hiding food, inside and outside, even your non-food stuffs are in danger. They snatch and investigate everything. But, as Nico says, burglar bars may become a necessity in a caravan, for more than monkeys!!
Gavin - please put up some photos of your monkey proof bars. Both with windows open and fittings and if possible, explination on the installation.
If you want to, email me the whole lot, story and all, and I'll polish it and post it on this thread.
This is a very good idea and I'm sure other Forums members will want to do the same.
Geert daai plan kan werk.
Nice idea. We have seen recently at Cape Vidal in KZN that a lot of the guys with pop up roofs are fitting the nylin version of your fensing around the upright section and have had much success with this. I intend doing mine soon. When you leave you cut cable ties where it joins and then roll it up for the next time.
Those "blou ape " love getting in through the lift up roof. One morning in Vidal we decided to have a sleep in and were awoken by one tearing the netting at the window opposite our bed that was slightly open. Drolle!!
Very well done Gavin. Looks neat as well.
I am thinking, one could try to fit storm netting, cut to size, around the popup suround, with some elastic band to pull it inwards when closing the rooftop.
Just to find a place to secure it onto the roofs without picking up a water leak.
Alternatively, have the storm net over the whole roof.
I like your idea Gawegawie
