vw Caddie 2l Diesel
Afternoon,
Unfortunately our Isuzu 4 x 4 3L Diesel bakkie was involved in an accident and has been written off. We are looking to down size to a more efficient vehicle. We are thinking of a VW Caddy max 2L. We still have the Sprite sport which is a small caravan. Does anyone tow with one and can give us any feed back.
Thanking you
Margueretha and Neill

Yes, you will be able to tow the Sport with the Caddy TDi with no problems either with 1.9 TDi or 2,0 TDi.
We have the Nissan X-Trail, 2,0 DCi.
My previous Van was a Sprite Swift with a weight of 860kg and never felt the extra wieght behind me.
With the Swift fully loaded and Nissan:
- My consumption used to be from 9,8lt - 10lt/100km's @ 110 - 120 km/h.
- Penta at same speed and both fully loaded = 10km - 11,2km/100km's.
I might be attacked again, because of "CONSUMPTION"
You will never go wrong with VW.
I feel sorry about the ISUZU.
My son's company vehicle is an ISUZU D-Teq and the odo mt =698 000 km's without any major repairs.

As Dennis (above) commented, no problem at all ....... that little Caddy is a beast!!
Friend of mine tows his racing car (Alfa) with extra tyres, fuel, spares etc. from PE to CT, to Jhb. etc. all with ease, and frequently raves about his good fuel consumption. His trailer behind is a double axle - mass unknown - so I am sure your 'van will be safe!!
As comented the VW Caddy 2L will tow your Sprite no problems. It is actually a comercial vehicle with comercial gearing and clutch and lots of torque. We have a 2L Caddy with 268 000Km on and no problems.
Groete,
Paul
From our VW mechanic, who has a new 1.6L Caddy....it is not as reliable as the older 1.9 and 2.0L models.
So try to go for the older models.
Groete,
Paul
I agree with above regarding the newer models.
My son's private vehicle is a late model Polo GTi and he has endless "sh#t" with it.
The vehicle is more @ VW for repairs without enjoying his weekend drive with it.
As mentioned above, rather look at the older Caddies: 1,9 - 2,0 TDi in the model region of: 2011 - 2010/20.
I met a couple that is travelling with a Caddy 1.9TDi ( 2012 model) by towing a Sprite Solar without any hick-ups.
The odo meter reading = 278 000km's.
Thanks for the reply,
Not to find one at the price we get paid out from the insurance.
