after hanging around the launch site on and of for the past week or so watching how it should be done and on occasions how it should not be done, speaking to the local guys who launch here and talking to the guys in the radio room our first surf launch went of yesterday without a hitch. with the way points that were given to me by the local fishing shop  in the gps the fishing was good as well.  whilst we got a couple of decent bonito on the trawl it was not as productive as the bottom fishing were we got some larger then pan size stumpies which we kept and a range of various other fish , some of which we have not seen before but those all went back. the biggest fight was the two approx two meter bronze sharks which took about an hour each to get to the boat which we managed to get the hooks out of both and sent them back on there way.

returning to the launch site that afternoon , the level of difficulty surf wise had increased as expected but again we beached without a hitch. what we have picked up on in our short stay here so far is the fishing fraternity here on the south coast are a lot more approachable , friendlier and down to earth people then where we have just come from, people i can relate to.

the forcast ahead the weather, wind wise will be turned on its head for the best part of next week but that gives us time to go exploring untill the next trip.

no worries mate

george

two roads diverged in a wood and i took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

Hi George.

Steven, the owner of Fairhills Caravan Park in Ramsgate, is an active member of the NSRI. He might be able to give you some pointers as well.

Did my skippers ticket with Anton Gets at Shelley many years ago. Shame, he passed away recently.
