we left Richards bay caravan park last week after a 6 month stay there and have now set up camp at margate caravan park for a 6 month stay here before heading to yellow sands next year. we have really begun to settle in to this retired life style [ although it did take a while ] and over the past few months met some amazing people [ and some not so ] and formed some good friendships , some of which we plan to meet up again with further down the road

the temp here is certainly a good few degrees lower here than we we came from, and the wind blows twice as hard twice as much, however the park is quite sheltered and the full effect of the wind is felt more on the beach. been spending some time at Shelly beach launch site watching how the locals do it and talking to the locals as well, will be taking the boat out there first good wind  day we get although forecasts indicate it may not be for a while.

the park appears to be well run , it has a place for everything and everything is in its place. the sites are a lot smaller then where we came from but everything still fits ....... almost, they did say i could keep the boat on the site next to mine [ no charge ] but iv opted to keep it at a friends place at sunwich port as we will be fishing together and he will bring it through to Shelly with his cruiser when we want to go out.

wilst we have started exploring , will be starting in earnest this week ahead, found a really old caravan shop at rams gate called gypsy world, run by a very old and pleasant couple. looking at a lot of there inventory on the shelves  ....... takes you back in a time capsule.i like shops like that.
got a lot of beach combing to do as well with the metal detector and so much more to see and do , its going to be a busy 6 months.

no worries mate
two roads diverged in a wood and i took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

Its great that you have settled in as full time campers. Best of luck with the metal detector and I truly hope the forecast will play along to go out at sea in the near future.

Hope you enjoy the stay just as much as up north.

Noordkus is definitief warmer as suidkus. Ons was afgelope 2x Desembers by Karridene gewees en ander lede soos Brommer by Salt Rock.

Geniet Margate.

WAARSKUWING:

Be careful of the Shelly Beach launch.  Can be dicey...
