Can anybody help with the settings. I acquired some new friction discs and need to set it up.

Thankyou

Grab the vehicle side in a vice and apply 35kg force to the end of the blade.

From the manual:

CARE OF THE YELLOW BLADE:
The YELLOW BLADE, being a friction damper like a clutch or brake, must never be
exposed to oil or grease. The only part that needs a slight bit of lubrication is the
tensioning mechanism on top. A slight spray of Q20 will do.

After extensive use or after replacement, the friction elements will need re-adjustment.
To do this:
1. clamp the short metal tongue firmly in the car plate or a vise;
2. make sure the unit is activated;
3. use a spring balance or a bathroom scale applied at the end of the spring blade
    (sideways) to measure the force needed to start movement. The setting should be
    around 30 to 35 kg force. Turning the nut at the spring blade underneath ( size 19
    spanner) will change the setting.

Been there--done it. ( Talking about the bathroom )

It seems for the older guys 30kg would work but if you drive a Landcruiser then 35kg is it - hehehe

Ja right!

Would be interesting to know the torque load to have the 30/35kg resistance factor from the friction dampner. Then one could use a torque wrench in future - much easier.

I assume this will be similar on the Tando and the Offroad friction dampners as well?

So dit maak dan nie so baie saak watter metode mens gebruik nie.

So ek moet maar torque wrench inspan.

The Tando was 38Nm of torque using a torque wrench.

Note that you must re-torque after each trip if possible. I torqued my new Tando and 600km's later it was floppy loose. The friction pads wear and we need to compensate for this wear.

Initially the pad wear is greater due to slight misalignment but it settles down after a while.

Dalk is dit so vir n rede.

Sonder Jesus is ek niks! ! ! !
