Have anyone considered putting out a good quality gazebo instead of pitching their caravan tent, for weekend or overnight camping? I so, what make of gazebo to recommend?
Wind is 'n probleem met a rally tent. In kort, neewat, 'n rallytent is nie juis geskik nie. Soos Jin, 'n lekker koelteboom as dit beslikbaar is, is 100%

I have been using the Natural Instinct 3x3 Easy-Pitch for years. Never had a problem with it. Like any gazebo you may need to drop it during strong wind. I am still using the solid sides that I purchased years ago from a company in Australia. Was not available then in South Africa.
I do this. I have a Tentco Senior Gazebo with sides. It works well and can handle wind. I used to have a Tentco Dining Shelter and although this was even more weather proof, both the canvas and shade cloth sides were permanently sewn in, which made it very heavy and cumbersome to set up and pack away.

Alex did you get the Caravette i think it was to replace the Navigator?
One of the reasons i got the Skipper was due to it having such a good strong , quality tent. To me it is not worth the effort camping unless we camp for 4 nights so use a full tent, but did buy a ralley for the very rare possibility of a weekend camping. From what i have seen and experienced gazebos are rather susceptible to breaking with strong winds.

The Tentco is pretty strong and holds up well in the wind. Much better than the pop up gazebos. I have had it a a few gale force storms.
Nico, also seem to enjoy my tent more than my small caravan, also looking at your set up, but the advert states it only fits on Tentco bow tents, I have a different make allthoug its the exact same dimensions as the Tentco bow tent, any help out there ?
Gee Lance, I don't have any idea as far as brands are concerned. Bought our Gazebo at Makro, and some years later the 2 "Add-a-Room" sides. I must admit, once again, that this is an ideal set-up. The added fantastic part of this is that we added sides to the Gazebo and, at Waenhuiskrans, incorporated this feature on the one side as well, as it gave the kiddies that little added protection against the wind (they used the Gazebo in itself as a play pen area ....)
