When I connect my caravan to my BMW x1 (f48) I keep getting 'Trailer fog light failure' warning although all the lights work normally on the caravan, its very anoying because it chimes every 5 minutes or so. I've plugged in two other caravans and a trailer and get the same warning. BMW say there is nothing wrong with the vehicle?? Has anyone else had this problem with BMWs?

David welcome on the forum. I do notice it is a common problem on the X1. BMW indicates that if a trailer has no fog light it has to be fitted so I presume one might have to fit such a lamp on the wiring even if under the Caravan if you don't want to fit a fog light.

David,

Welcome to the forum.

Fitting a fog light to resolve the problem may not be a bad idea for the van's visibility in fog!
