Hi i have the roadster 300 trailer and was wondering instead of buying a whole bigger trailer can i put a extension on it and if so where can i do it ?
Sorry, "non comprehendo" ....... do you want to extend the trailer (making the trailer longer)???
WOW!!🙄
If my understanding IS correct, that means you will add space on the rear, but this means that your wheel base will be TOTALLY incorrect!!!
Were you to mean increasing the height of this said trailer, be careful that the shock absorbers will be able to deal with the extended height and weight. You can for instance, put a cycle carrier on top to carry two (?) bicycles, but I will not really go more than that. Saying this, I have, once, fitted two 100 cc Go-carts on my 6 ft Venter and that handled this fairly well to an extent (short distance) but that was it!!
Personally, I'd say it is a big NO-NO!!!!
Rather go the safer route, sell and buy the size you need!!!!!!!!!!!!
I understand you want to make the trailer body "deeper". If that is the intention, then trailer manufacturers have add-on bodies to raise the height. Venter trailers refer to the add-on as a 'frame extension' . I suggest you contact them and ask if the extension would fit on a Campmaster trailer. Check if Makro or Builders warehouse that sells campmaster can supply an extension.

thank you . ive been googling locks for the trailer to lock it onto the car and so far no luck any suggestions
Buy a lock at any hardware store that has a long shank. The tow hitch normally has a hole through which you fit the lock once it is hitched onto the towball that prevents the hitch from being lifted.
thanks i thought about that . sorry if i ask silly things we giving up the house and starting our camp life from the 1st of jan
Shawn, If your trailer has an ALCO hitch, which is the type mostly used, any ALCO dealer would be able to order the correct lock for you. You can download their full catalogue from their international web page. They have different types of locks for their different hitches, so you will have to make sure you order the correct one. The one I got, stops the hitch from opening both when hitched or unhitched. That means you will make it difficult for thieves to also tow away your trailer even if it is not hitched to the car as they well, but they might attach to their tow vehicle some other way.

Yes I also understand that the extension is to make the cargo hold deeper. It is a great idea and works very well, specially if you want to load large items like a bar fridge. The old Venter trailer products had such an extension.
Take care however with such an extension you can easily overload the trailer. Have seen this happen many time in the Army when we used such a trailer deploying or going on coarse.
Venter trailers definitely have an extension like that available. The issue, as highlighted by Leon, is that you can easily overload your trailer. You then need to look at you tyre load capacity as well as the axle capacity.
My one friend had a Venter trailer with the extension and had problems with easy overloading as you tend to load the trailer to the space available.
I had the venter elite trailer. They use to come with the 550kg (I think it was) leaf springs. Venter in Boksburg sold me the 750kg leaf springs (fit perfectly) and the body extension.
Used it for many years and worked very well if you load every thing in the trailer. The only thing was that it is then not advisable to also load heavy stuff on the carrier of the lid. Makes the trailer top heavy.
Ongelukkig in Pretoria omgewing
