Irrespective of the manufacturer's warranty, more important are the following considerations:
1. Legal limits of a combination - to the best of my knowledge (stand to be corrected) the towed vehicle's (trailer/caravan/boat etc) gross mass may not exceed the tare mass of the vehicle doing the towing &
2. Should this legal regulation not be adhered to, you could end up on the losing end when insurance related matters come into question!!
This on top of the manufacturers warranty could have you end up in deep trouble.
HOWEVER, the most important bottom line is - is it "safety first" for you & your family as well as other road users to tow something you don't have full control over, even more so in an emergency situation??
Life is too precious to place at risk!!! (ALARA risk behaviour)
Each one to decide for himself, but also to live with the decision and its consequences!!!!
My 2c worth!!
