Also had a 1996 expo. So light any carcan almost tow it... should be no problem for tucson... and they drive very nice as well.., tested one recently...
Johann n 1996 expo se gvm is 900kg.. tarra 690kg... 1210 is nuwes....
Dankie Pieter, jy is reg.
Cornelis, you can increase the Expo's GVM to the carrying capacity of your axle or tires, wich ever is the smallest. This will come at a small cost to yourself. Read the topic in this regard if you wish to have more info.
So if you do add an fridge and or aircon, jou should be fine after increasing the GVM.
Payload is 390Kg?
You will tow the expo with no difficulty. Due to the petrol enjin you will probably change a bit more gears but thats no problem.
With regards to the Aircon you can have a look at a 9000BTU. The caravan is relatively small but you do loose isolation because of the pop up roof with surround canvas.
By installing the aircon and maybe a bigger fridge take note that by doing that you reduce the amount of weight that was available for the rest of the camping equipment. Note that this includes your main tent and rally so in the end it leaves you with very little for chairs tables pots pans food, drinks and clothes.
If I remember correctly have a look at the weight rating of the tyres fitted to your Expo. There are not much leaverage there for extra weight as they are 13" or 14" rim tyres.
This is not to scare you is just so that you make a note of the weight implications.
