We have just returned from Sugarloaf SAN Parks camping site at St Lucia. While the campsite is in need of general repair the facilities were liveable. The biggest problem in this area at the moment is that there are severe water restrictions. Water to all areas of St Lucia and i assume Hluhluwe are restricited to 2 hours in the morning and night. When booking with the Parks board no mention was made of this little issue. The concern would be that if there are no big rains before Dec holidays the area could be a nightmare from this aspect. People still use the toilet even though they cant flush so the toilets get a bit bunged up for want of a better word. As an aside the beaches at St Lucia seem to have become a dumping site with an abnormally high number of bottles beer and other littering the beach.
As a world heritage site we were looking forward to going back there and have to say that we were disappointed with what we saw.It might be a good idea before finalising holiday plans to establish what the water situation in the area is.
