as usual, this time of the year im plotting next year . anyone know of  caravan parks at St Francis bay or surrounding area. i was initially looking at willows P E but correspondence with them indicates they dont do long term stays, so im looking past P E  now.
two roads diverged in a wood and i took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

There was a spot there about 12 years ago. Well hedged in but amongst houses in a residential setting. Don't know if it's still going. Wasn't on the water though....

Hi George

Try Gamtoos Ferry Hotel - west of PE, before St Francis, on the Gamtoos River. They have an excellent caravan park with slipway for launching boats. Also a demarcated area for parking boat trailers. Restaurant , pub and shop on site, although may be closed due Corona-19. We stayed there overnight in Jan this year and would like to visit there again.

Been there--done it. ( Talking about the bathroom )

George the following caravan parks are in or near Jeffreys Bay:

Big Fish Caravan Park

Gamtoos Ferry Hotel

Gamtoosriviermond Coastal Nature Reserve

Jeffreys Bay Caravan Park

Wacky Woods Caravan Park

Kabeljous Caravan Park closed in 2012 and St Francis Bay Caravan Park closed in 2017.  We have heard that it may re-open, but cannot confirm this.

I have just loaded photos of the first 5 to our Website. Click on the link to the photos at the end of the notes of the individual parks.

Jip, we have camped at Willows many a time and always made use of their monthly rate, even over December.  They even have a monthly rate on their private sites.

Will post some photos on our webpage for you. Will only bè available in about an hour.

Hi George,

Try Water Berry Park, St Francis Bay. Have never stayed there but saw it advertised a few months ago. Looking at their website it looks ok!

Oyster Bay caravan Park is rated as a 5 star resort, but the road is normally very bad. Potholes and corregation all the way.

Stay away if you regularly want to go to St Francis.

This was never called St Francis C/P.  The St Francic Hotel is built on a section of the old caravan park.

again many thanks flip for an informed reply, oyster bay is not where i want to be then. would you be able to shed a little more light on jeffreys bay caravan park, i been looking at it on line and i kind of get the impression its a municipal  park , is that right.

im looking at st francis bay or jeffreys bay because both appear to have a marina / harbor to launch the boat. otherwise i may just have to move on.

P E would have been good aswell but there does not appear to be any pensioner friendly longer term stays around there.

Jeffreys Bay is indeed a municipal park, but we have stayed there quite often, from the 1970's till 2018. We never had any problems and in fact often just locked up the van to visit Baviaans for a couple of days.

The ablutions are old and need a revamp, but have always been clean.

I will post some pictures to our website during the week.
