Would anyone know about Soetdoring caravan park in Vereeniging, anyone stayed there recently,  looking for feed back.

Sorry to change topic , how did your Transkei trip go? 

Yes (Soetdoring), a very nice quiet place and clean, but avoid certain people.

We stood there for nearly 2-years, but certain people can make it uncomfortable.

The guy in the corner (Dough), which I heard is the maintenance employee now, but can make a nusaince of himself when you get too friendly.

When you are too friendly, he will stay at your doorstep without inviting.

He asked me for R5k to repair his vehicle at stage and refused to pay back after we heading North.

There are Semi-Permers with an Exclusive - (Chris & Mandy)

If you tell them this, they will exactly know who sent the message.

The best stands are below the Café and Abblutions.

They are easy to come and go without campers block you.

Transkei trip went well, left yellow sands just before 3 am on Sunday morning, got to mthatha a little before 7 am. Stopped at the first engine garage for fuel and drove through the town no problems.

The roadworks thereafter to kokstad was quite something, that never ending road of conveyer belt speed humps ........ but all in all an uneventful good trip.

Forgot to mentioned: Most of the furniture at their Van was given from us to them for free.

We even paid the transport costs from Alberton to Soetdoring.

Charles, the Security Guy, is wearing my ex-office clothes given to him.

It seems George is talking about a Soetdorings park in Vereniging while you, Dennis I think refers to one near Nylstroom. Sorry if I have got it wrong.

No Fred, I am talking about Soetdoring, Vereeniging.

We stsrted there with our Longterm Camping.

Yet, I am not aware of a Soetdoring in Limpopo??

 Ok, my fout. Ek was onder due indruk julle het die gele tyd in due Bosvtld gekamp.

Die terugvoering wat ek oor algemeen hoor klink dit vir my of dit n heel aangename oord kan wees. Die enigste rede hoekom ek nog nie die oord besoek het nie, is omdat ek nog n naweek kampeerder is en nie bereid is om op n Vrydag middag deur Johannesburg verkeer te wil ry nie. 1x dit gedoen oppad Klipdraai toe, maar was onplesierig in daai verkeer. Terugvoering hier wys ook alles 4/5....so ek glo jy kan met geruste hart gaan

Soos hierbo genoem dat dit is n lekker plek en rustig, maar voorkom die "Ongewenste" kuiergaste.

Jy is basies n "hane tree" van die winkel sentrum af, maar dit voel of jy diep in die bos is

I will recommend Soetdoering, but avoid as mentioned.

If you have a problem, refer to Andrea or Riaan.

Just to bring you into the picture of camping stands there: Personally, I do not prefer to camp underneath trees, therefore for enough shade and easy movement, I will recommend as follow, because Soetdoring is 1st come, 1st serve:

- If you pssed the café, you will get a stand just below the café and bathrooms with a lot of trees.

You then get an open stand and quite small with no shade.

The stand next to abovementioned has quite shade with easy in and out movement and is quite bigger than other stands. This stand can accommodate an Exclusive.

This however will be on R/H once entered.

We used to camp on that stand.

Thanks, have booked in there from the 1st feb next year for 3 months then heading for Marloth park.

During that time, you will have an open plan by choose a reliable stand according your expectations.

Just do yourself a favour of ease: Find out of upcomming "Rallies" at your stay there.

The stand, I mentioned is safe from Rallies in order not to keep you "Inhouse".

Ons het nou al oor die jare so 11 keer by Soetdoring gekamp, nou wel nie as langstaners nie, maar op 'n keer darem vir 4 weke!

Aangename plek, goed versorg, goeie staanplekke, swembad en ablusies heel skaflik en die diens daar is baie goed. Winkeltjie is goed toegerus, maar 'n groot winkelsentrum is so 8 km ver. Die bome se saadjies en blommetjies kan egter jou voertuig se verfwerk skade berokken. Was dit dus maar gereeld.

Aangesien langstaners daar welkom is, en onder, verby die swembad staan,  verkies ons om bo-langs naby die swembad te kamp. Langstaners is egter baie ordentlik en goeie gesleskap.

Vir my - persoonlik - is die terrein heel geskik om fiets te ry, binne die wildreservaat (300+ hektaar met bokke en kameelperde ) asook buite die kamp area. Vroulief kan kilometers in die reservaat stap en fotos neem.

Sekuriteit is heel skaflik, sekuriteitsbeampte snags, maar weens die afstand van die hoofpaaie, heel doenlik. Die eienaars pas ook hulle eie toesig toe, deur lawaaierige studente (een keer) 'n waarskuwing te gee, en daarna die kamp terrein te belet. 'n Desembermaand se dagbesoekers wat hulle wangedra het in die swembad, is summier verwyder ... dit, in my beskeie mening is uitstekend.

Gaan gerus ... dis 'n lekker kamp!!!

Riaan die eienaar is n aangename persoon, maar moet nie op sy tone trap en aan sy verkeerde kant kom nie.

Andrea, Riaan se dogter wat oorneem tydens sy afwesigheid is baie sag, maar pas dissipline toe en staan by voet.

+/- 3km By die hoofhek uit is daar n slaghuis genaamd: vd Merwes.

Hulle verkoop die beste vleise en moet nie hulle wors misloop nie. Hulle wors is n MOET, bykans dieselfde gehalte as Hunters slaghuis in Modimolle.
