Hi Julian.
Welcome to the forum.
The good in me wishes you ALL the best of luck in finding your dream van - they are fantastic little campers.

The bad in me wishes to say Pe-WE! I got mine done - but be warned. YOU WILL spend money on this van. No-matter-how-good-it's-been-taken-care of! You will buy it and you will want to fix it up real nice. Then you may discover how much having a pristine slipstream really costs. I paid 30K for my van, and a further 25 so far. AND COUNTING. Although you could say the new improved roof and electronic roof hoist are not really necessary....
PS - You still need an EB licence even for this one.

Sandy,

We are still busy with this one - I am looking for someone competent to do the roof first. It needs a complete overhaul.

The design for the electric mechanism is to add a secondary sprocket to the existing winch mechanism and drive to be chain driven by a electric motor coupled to a worm gear reducer.

So my plan actually takes up MORE SPACE, however it sill leaves intact the existing system which would allow me to still manually raise the roof should things go wrong with the motor.

I am working on the system design, but am still seeking a new competent caravan serviceman in my area. I cannot deal with Campworld in Polokwane anymore. Not after last time..
