I am looking for a second hand Skipper Multiroom ( Add a room ), to buy or swap for a 3m x 3m cotton canvas dome tent to use for storage on a Skipper Oyster.

Can anyone help ?

Many thanks Guys, you are most likely right.

I thought this forum to start asking as there are many Skipper owners out there who aren't on the Skipper forum. Will ask there tonight as well.

Will only a Skipper Add-a-room work?????

What about another add-a-room of Jurgens or Gypsey?

Hello Leon,  I have wondered about this, but am not at  al  sure, I have not even looked at any other brand before.

I would assume that the add a room is fitted by removing one side and zipping the room in its place, then doing poles etc. If this is the case I would need to check :

1 )   the Dimensions of the existing side panel.

2)    the size and make of the zips

3  ) the type of material the Room is made of

4 ) the colour  match or clash.

If the above are all correct it would work, and I have seen other brands for sale @ R1500.00  to R2000.00 which would be in the right price range.

What do you think?

Come on Skipper owners, someone must have a Multi room / add a room for a skipper that they don't use anymore and I am still looking.

Brian, to my knowledge Skipper does not have add-a-rooms but I do find the idea quite good and I wonder why it is not offered.  Why don't you go to a tent manufacturer and have one made up?  It seems like a straight forward exercise to me.

Sorry, I just went to the Skipper web page and found that they do indeed supply a multiroom, but I haven't seen one yet.  Could someone perhaps post a photo?

Hello Fred,

I found a picture on the "Camping with Skipper" Facebook page, I am sure the quality is top shelf, but I don't care for the design.  It follows the slope of the main tent roof down to about about a meter, it looks as though you can move in for less than a meter before you have to start bending down.

I think I must find a way of adapting our Dome tent  to attach onto the side of the skipper tent.

It sounds a bit awkward but then you sleep in the room so perhaps headroom would not be such a problem.  Think about small hiking tents. On the other hand, I wonder why the multiroom could not have a level roof- why does it need to slope?

Hello Fred,

I think the slope is to keep it in the same form as the main tent, looks OK but will not suite our needs. We actually want an extra room that you can walk around in as you can in the tent. The skipper add a room is more an additional bedroom in the same style as the van, which would be perfect if a bedroom is what you wanted.

The other add a rooms I know can be set up as a stand alone.  Like a tent on it own. So i would think that it can work anywhere.  Maybe not fitting in precise between poles of the Skipper tent but right next to it, it should work.

Thanks Leon,

You make a very good point,  if I put a door in the existing side panel this should give direct access to the add a room through its door or it could be erected at any position around the main tent or awning.

I will look into this, do you have a particular manufacture in mind ?

No not really.  Any add a room should do.  There was someone that was looking at Add a rooms a while back and found a company that made a Universal Add a room at a better price than those from Jurgens, Gypsey or Sprite.

I think you will get the topic if you search Add a rooms or Multi rooms.
