The game park is rigged out with kitchens and hot water i find it helpfull
Paul agree wiht you allso enjou sites with private kitchen and ablutions but can everybody afford them
I vote no...
Push costs up.
Have all my own stuff so dont need one just my 2c
Campsite owners may consider doing something like this on a user-pay system. However, is there really a need for it? Our camping culture differs from that in other countries. I do not want to go to a communal kitchen to heat up soup and make tea. I want to braai at my own campsite with a few beers.
What Paul (paddyand paul) is getting at, is not necessary for us guys that are kitted out with all our camping essentials, but very much for the camper travelling light or even for the International tourist. Paul is not referring to a facility (camp kitchen) to be used by us, the weekend, long weekend or holiday campers, but by those campers “on the go”.
Even at times we are “on the go” towing long distance and need to stop over night. No need to unpack, set up kitchen, tables ‘n chairs etc. – a camp kitchen set up properly will be of benefit.
I am personally a great advocate of the camp kitchen concept. If set up properly, not half measure like in the Kruger or National parks, but with stove, hot water facility for tea or coffee, wash up, refrigeration and seating. (Tables & chairs.) Very important, tables & chairs. Campers camping out of their car boots, back packers and or those travelling with the barest minimum of equipment, will definitely require better cooking and “sit down to eat” facilities as provided in Australia and New Zealand camp sites. We really do not have these facilities in South Africa.
If these facilities were provided at more and more camp sites (caravan parks), this would attract more custom. Especially the International traveler/camper or “on the go” camper would welcome these facilities.
This is a photo of a camp kitchen at one of the "Big 4 Holiday Resorts" franchise in Australia. Look at the facilities inside the kitchen! Very impressive.
Willie i agree with you its a very nice idea but it won't work in SA there is to mutch crime and vandalism around
Stef - don't they have crime or vandalism in Australia?
Some more Camp Kitchen photos from my collection.
@ Willie....
Thanks for explaining the concept, I had it wrong, I was thinking each site / selected sites have a kitchen....
I like touring holidays.... But I'm kitted for me, and I travel alone, so my outdoorsing is somewhat different from everybody else, I just stealth camp....
Something to think about.....
@ Chamelion... True that....
Personally I dont want or need such a facility.. the only building we want within reasonable walking distance is ablution block, rest we prefer trees, grass and open campsites
I would vote yes. I will not use it though, but I am sure it will serve its purpose for some campers.
Willie....
When it comes to pictures.... Truly you are my mentor.. I stand in awe...
Anyhow, What could ever be wrong with this "camp kitchen"?
EEK!
avent a kooking clue what happened here...
Yes Warren - EEK!
I've fixed it!
Ooooooooooooooo
Ta!
Whew!
Hi julle...
Om eerlik te wees,
Skottlegoed ek sal eerder was in my eie twee ronde plastik bakkies wat ek in die wasbak sit.
Stort, dra ek plakkies.
As dit by Klere-was kom......
Nou ja, hier is my camp-kombuis mini-draagbaar "was mashien"...
Kos so R20.00 en is beskikbaar by enige West-pack winkle.... (Ek dink groen.... ek spaar waspoier)
Hoe werk hy?.... Somme maklik....
Sit wasgoed in, so bietjie-bietjie seep poier, 1/2 vol low-warm water.... Draai prop lekker vas toe, dan gaan n mens "inkomste-belasting-betaal"....
Kom-kom mense...
If its a private one exclusive for my stand I will use it. But I do have what is needed so its not a must have for me.
Edenpark and Shangrila in die bos stands have them. Surely is a cost driver but convenient.
For the tourist who is travelling light I think a camp kitchen is a blessing. Have come across a few in our travels. Sanparks, Bush Baby Lodge, and Numbi Caravan Park come to mind.
Paasnaweek was daar 'n jong paartjie van Holland by Homestead.
Maar soos bo genoem sal die "free for all" gedagte dalk probleme skep waar dit yskaste betref.
If there is such a need and resort owners do consider these, here are some practical suggestions:
The last suggestion is so that a deposit may be asked to protect the property and a fee may be asked to recover the costs of the investment. Each person thus rents his own fridge and utensils and gets provoded with a key for his/her cubicle.

I would unfortunately not recommend this as some campers are not civelized in such a way to handle equipment with respect and to clean up behind themselves. I have experienced too much incidents all over caravan resorts where caravaners and campers, men and women, who behave like pigs in the ablutions and sculleries, as they do not have a servant on leash to do the job for them.
A big, big NO!

Stem saam Johnny experience with other campers previous years tells me this is a no go. If there are such facilities and tourists come by our SA Camping name will be down the drain.
Ook 'n GROOT NO GO vir my.
Kook maar eerder kos by my karavaan of tent of koop vis & chips, maar geensins gesamentlike kombuis nie.
