Roof vents on 2015 Exclusive
Hi all caravaners. About a year ago the one roof vent mesh slider of my Jurgens Exclusive broke inside resulting in the strings going limp and the slider could wobble from side to side. I removed the vent by simply pulling it down carefully. It is held on by metal clips. This revealed that one of the mesh slider guides had broken off. This released the rope and it slipped off the guide. I repaired this with a small cable tie and proceeded to secure the unbroken guides with cable ties as well. This will prevent them from breaking in the future.
I would suggest you do this as a preventative measure as these guides tend to break. The other roof vent mesh slider broke a week ago and I fixed it in the same way.
Hope this helps someone.
Groete,
Paul
The first photo shows how to fix a broken guide and the second photo shows how to strengthen an unbroken guide so that it does not break in future.
Nice seeing you again in Berg En Dal Richard and Rusty.
Groete,
Paul
Ek sien hulle word Heki Mini roof lights genome van Dometic. Op YouTube maak hulle hom met Å self tap skroefie reg. My manier is makliker en jy kan voorkom dat dit met die ander gebeur.
Groete,
Paul
Hi Paul, great to see you and Dion, Yip as discussed the screw works, but will try your method in future.

Dankie Paul.
Insiggewende informasie. Als is mos deesdae plastiek met die nadeel dat dit nie lank kan hou nie.

Living the dream
Thanks Richard. That is the way you explained to me you did the fix.
On my rear roof vent sky light I repaired it a year ago with cable ties and it is still working perfectly. During our recent Kruger trip the front roof vent also broke and I then decided to take both off and repair the front one in the same way and for preventative reasons I put cable ties on the ones that haven’t broken yet. I don’t think I will have this problem again.
The self tap repair method seems to me not strong enough and I will not be surprised if that screw pulls out of the plastic at some stage.
Groete,
Paul
My self tapping screw is still holding, but the other side tab broke.
Used your cable tie method, Paul, to fix and backup the screw.
Thanks quick and simple.
Living the dream
I have not had another failure since the preventative fix with the cable ties.
Glad you are sorted Richard.
Groete,
Paul
