Anyone able to report on the road between Jozini and Ndumo my last trip in July 2013 the road was still under construction and not caravan friendly. Thanks Graham

May be a bit late but Monica and I visited Ndumo Game Reserve in May 2014 and the stretches between the turnoff from the last turnoff from the Emangusi/Kosi Bay road to Ndumo were under 'construction' and the detours were not very good. It did not appear that there was any 'construction' actually taking place or had been any for a long time before. Having said that we drove the route slowly and it was okay.

The road from Jozini was much improved from the previous time I drove it in 1978!

We are returning to Ndumo early in 2015, so you can see we though the the visit to the park was worth traversing the poor road at the end of the trip.

Hi Malcolm,
Thanks for the update, sorry to hear that the road construction has come to a standstill. Were you towing a caravan? I have a Jurgens Penta not sure weather or not to give it a go. We did enjoy Ndumo and Tembe aswell.
Happy camping,
Graham

Hello Graham,
We towed our Sprite 'Surfer Deluxe' with Monica's Kia Sportage to Ndumo.

This is a "new" caravan to us and I have to say a very 'soft' caravan when compared to the previous 2 caravans we owned. Both were Jurgens (1982 Fleetline 4 and 1986 Fleetline 6)which I towed all over the place with only ever breaking a spring on the Fleetline 4 on a terrible dust road near Golden Gate National Park. I even towed the same caravan for many Kms on the firebreak between Tweerivieren and Nossob, when all we broke were 2 eggs and a wine glass. On a very benign sand road between Brits and Hartebeeshoek Caravan Park with the Sprite, a cupboard door fell off!

If your Jurgens is anything in the mold of our Fleetlines I would not hesitate to take it to Ndumo. We are planning to be back in Ndumo, with our Sprite, in January. I do not know if it will be as easy this time, especially if it is raining and wet, we will wait and see. When are you thinking of going?

Hi Malcolm,
thanks for the info. At this stage not sure when we will visit, but would like to include Mkhuze. Enjoy your visit in January, safe traveling.
