Relocated to Parys (Weltevrede)
We relocated yesterday to Weltevrede just outside Parys on the Vaal River. Lovely campsite and great ablutions. The resort is well run.
But you are moving hey.

Yeah, we are here until 2 Oct then we stop in Pta by our daughter. Off to Chile mid Nov for 6 weeks ðŸË⬠Back to travelling in the van in the new year ðŸâÂ
Brian, do you ever go to the Kruger Park. I am sure I have seen a caravan like yours there?
We are going back to Kruger from mid October until some time in December. Staying in all the camps.
Enjoy your visit with your daughter.
Groete,
Paul

Paul, we were last in the KNP Sept 2012 for 3 weeks â˺ï¸Â, been way too long. Hopefully we get another chance next year. There are only 3 vans like mine in the country so possibly one of the other two ðŸâ¢â
We stayed over at Weltevrede for one night only a few years ago. I was rather impressed by this park and will surely consider using them again.
Chili - interesting destination. We returned yesterday from a 6 week visit to our daughter and family in Romania. Now looking forward to fit in a few camps the near future.

Chris welcome back to SA and the load shedding ðŸËÅ fortunately Weltevrede has a generator so no problem there, however the MTN tower does not have such facilities so our internet does go down ðŸË¡ but that too is not an issue.
Chris hope you had a fantastic holiday in Romania. The Chile destination is to visit our son who lives there. It’s a beautiful country with friendly people. Lots of volcanoes - can see 5 from his property, he is close the the most recent eruption (Calbuco) and the glaciers are a must to see.

Yes, it must be one of the other 2.
When you stay in caravan parks and in Kruger you don't know about load shedding. They all have generators which kick in soon after the power has gone off. Actually you don't know about the problems the rest of the country and the world is facing. It is bliss!

Wow Brian. Those pictures are awesome.

The ones of the Calbuco eruption were taken by my son. Woke me just after midnight our time during the eruption. The volcano is less the 50km from them. Made my hair stand up ðŸËâ¬
Amazing pics, Brian. Did not realise that they have glaciers down there ....
Watch out for the volcanoes, looks scary.
They do not get as much 'coverage' as the north, so pretty much unknown part of the world to me.

That was the Grey Glacier. Down far south in Chile. We had a wonderful week there also visited the Torres del Paine National Park. Very beautiful part of Chile.
Beautiful pics Brian. You can see the earth is still "young" there. Rugged sharp peaks. The Rocky's in the USA are also so rugged and as yet unshaped by the elements.

Paul

Returned yesterday from a week at Skukuza. The generator kept tripping and was off for long periods during load shedding. It would run for a while only to trip again. I suspect the guests are not playing the game and keep aircons etc on.
The Happy Campers.
Last night / early this morning the generator I assume run out of fuel as it never switched on, however it is running as we speak ðŸËÅ
If only MTN could sort their towers out, then I would be a happy chappy

Hendrick, we stayed in all the Kruger camps from July until beginning September and the generators were mostly running. But having 220V is not very important to us when we are camping. We stay in no power camp sites for weeks. They are the best.
The batteries and/or solar panels are stolen so often that some cellular high sites don't have back up power any more. They will not have back up power ever? again. Even wind power was considered at one stage (and implemented is some cases) but the maintenance cost on these type of generators are prohibitive.

Paul
Paul yip having 220 gas and 12v in the van is a blessing so no problem there. I just would like to have the mobile towers with more backup. But even then is no real train smash not having mobile coverage.
