@ Freda

We relocated to Lalanathi Caravan Park as a result of us having to have the Pathy repaired in Port Shepstone and this was the most suitable place for us although others were closer to Shepstone this one offered the best value for us as pensioners.

We looked on the website and the forum, all looked great so off we went. Access road is no problem.

Awesome place to stay, Charlotte and Barry are wonderful hosts and have done a lot to upgrade the resort and are continuing to do so. Ablutions are spotless the sites are all level, grassed and LARGE Laughing Laundy, splash pool, lapa/games room with TV, trampoline, jungle gym and private access to the beach.

The resort at the moment is very quite but thats the way we like it. Security is fine with fencing and motorised gate there is a staff member patrolling ad hoc at night. Monkeys seem to be less of a problem here than at other places along the coast they don't like my green laser. Water and electricy points are all nearby as well as bins. They will provide a braai should you need it.

You can choose from sunny to shady sites.

Charlotte visits us daily to see if we are ok and need anything. Lalanathi is a geat reort to stay at.

Me and my family was there in December and i will not go back. In a busy time like December the ablutions can not handle the 45 stands. We were very far from the ablutions and they have put this blue toilets down which was very smelly and if the wind blows from that direction when you smell it at your caravan. The hot water was also a problem, the one time you burn and then suddenly the hot water is totally gone. The stand was very nice private with no wind. The animals as well was nice to have around the caravan. I think out of season they will be ok but for in season they need to upgrade the ablution facility. They need more than one. The swimming pool is ok but for 45 stands it is to small.

I'm told that they are going to be putting up an additional ablution at the far end of the resort which should alleviate that problem. Have not had any smells while we have been here, but I suppose as with any resort, in peak season things can change when the facilities are under pressure.

Thanks, Brian, I have been waiting for this posting of yours. I value your comments because you have a lot of experience, so it sounds good. I also hear what Ego is saying, but fortunately we will be going in May, so it should be less of a problem with ablutions. It is a fact that during busy times you have problems with hot water at many camps and they should do something about it.

I sent a mail to TO Strand in Port Edward and asked them about crime, safety, security in Port Edward area (because we had been warned about the high crime rate there). The lady replied and said that she personally has lived in Port Edward for 20 years, next to the beach, and she has never had problems. She also said there were no serious incidents during the festive period in Port Edward and told me about their security measures at TO Strand. She did mention that during the low season they get a lot of school and other groups coming in and that they are normally quite busy then. That is a bit of a negative for us.

According to the website Lalanathi is a 50m walk away from the fishing beach. This will be great for us, because the men want to go fishing at all hours and it will suit them if they can just walk instead of driving to wherever all the time.

We plan to stay at least 2 weeks, so it is important to like the place and feel happy there. We are not too fussy

Brian, now I am still waiting to hear about your trip from there to East London. Thanks, and enjoy your stay. Hope your vehicle is repaired properly so you do not have concerns regarding that again.

Willie's bit.

Just as a matter of interest, there have been 11 (eleven) Customer Resort feedback reports on Lalanathi to date and all are positive.

Brian, please add your Feedback on the resort.

We camped there many years ago and found it great then. We must make a plan to re-visit again.

Regards.

Why only Brian? Why not EGO?

EGO please also give your Feedback on the Cusomer Feedback otherwise Lalanathi is not aware of their shortcomings. Wat ek aflei, is die plek is nie maanskyn en rose wanneer dit onder druk is nie.

Freda the beach is just a short walk away. I'll post some more pictures when we get back into a 3G area. Sorry but with the car problems we could not get to Ilnanga to look for you.

I'll update the road conditions under a separtae thread.

Thanks Brian, I will look out for your posts. Colin likes the idea that the beach is so closeby. We have pretty much made up our minds that we are going there. I sent a query yesterday about the tariff, they replied that it will be R90 per person (pensioner rate) per day.

Hi all,

Just some feedback regarding the security at Lalanathi. There were 2 incidents of crime at Lalanathi during December. People's phones and tablets were stolen from their tent at night while why were asleep. The intruders came over the fence from the railway side. Also on the beach at Lalanathi a cell phone was taken at knife point. So please make sure you do lock it away and do not use your phone when on the beach because somebody is always looking. The owners did make effort to patrol the camp at night.

Hi Hendrik, i did provide feedback on Monday already but i do not see any update on the site regarding my feedback. I can just say that where were some campers that was complaining about the camp during December but not all do not report it they just go to a other place next time. Lalanathi have lot of potential.

Hi Brain, how was the hot water when you were there. I was sometimes alone in the showers and still had problems with the hot water. We were camping on the far end and the stands there is actually to me better because it is more protected from the wind. Sometime during our stay the wind was blowing very strong and you can see from the stands around the ablutions they caravan tents was shaking and some did have storm straps on but at our stand it was only a breeze. If they do build an ablution at the far end i will surely go back. But at this stage during peak season they do have some problems.

@ Ego I had no problems turned the hot water full on then adjusted with cold to my temp. Break-ins occur at most caravan parks even with the best security one just needs to be sensible and not leave any temptations lying around. I've reported here on the forum just how bad things were at Smuts House - Irene while we were there and we have since met other caravaners who were there after us and they had no problems.

@ Freda here are some beach pictures.

Is daar iemand wat meer onlangs by Lalanathi gestaan het. Ons stel belang in 'n drie-maande staanplek naby behoorlike ablusies, wat veilig is en ook deur ander lang kampers gebruik word. Beoog die winter maande 2018.
