What a wonderful place to be camping at Dimalachite River Lodge near Parys. Although the sites have little grass this year it is attributed to the drought the FS is experiencing. Wonderful pool which is nice and cool in the hot weather as they use borehole water hence the pool is not crystal clear but very clean. Kids play park, trampoline, paintball, Jacuzzi, water rafting if you wish and fishing sites on the edge of the Vaal River. Each site has a a braai and share a dustbin between two sites, both are cleaned daily. Water taps are there but about one for every 4 sites. Bathrooms neat and clean however not much water pressure in the shower, think they reduce it so people don't spend 20 min in the shower, always hot water. Access dirt road is horrible and reception don't tell you that but on the map and direction there is an alternative / detour road which is fine for a caravan and only 300m longer on dirt but 4km further, well worry the extra distance. Although not the cheapest it is still alright. 2016 rates also here. Love the fact that they allow NO MUSIC. Had a rowdy bunch one night in a chalet and they were quickly made quite at 10pm. There is a coded security gate at the entrance to the resort and at reception someone who checks each car for number of occupants against the number paid. Day visitors are allowed but never posed a problem. Security vehicle patrols at night.

Thanks for the feedback some time back there was a few negative reviews around this camp site, so nice to see some positives.

Thanks for the feedback - have heard a lot of favourable reports but never managed to visit due to other good places around us.

Sometimes I think we are in the habit of re-visiting places due to being afraid of dissappointment at places not yet visited.

I went for just a look at this resort some time back.

Would agree with all said. The access route is bad and access from other side (dirt road near Vredefort) look much better.

We also visited River Run Resort.

Although it look very well kept and neat, the access road condition and distance from tar will limit this place to Bush caravans only.

Which dirt road did you take to River Run? There is the dirt Road from Parys and the other from Potch side.

On Vredefort - Viljoenskroon road there was a turn off and from there  a couple of turnoffs.

Thank you Studdybear. We have been threatening to visit this resort, but had previous feedback about the bad road conditions. Which route is the detour and is it still dodgy or really safe for on-road caravans?

I'm considering this resort for a 3 night camp with the family. Is there any updated feedback about the resort and the acces road?

I have lost my mind... please let me know if you find it.

Pity how the access roads will limit your resort...
