Morning to all members,

We are plannining our next adventure,

which will require us to camp in/around Parys.

We do not require a camp full of entertainment and luxuries,

for a one night stop. Looking at value for money, for quick in and out...

Eastco is a nice campsite with swimming pool the ablutions are very clean stands are paved and covered with shade netting. The dirt road was well maintained and not very long.
Other camps sites are:
Weltevrede park
Smilen thtu
Umfula
Municipal park in Parys is bad news.

Smilin thru

Smilin Thru is a nice resort, accept for the abblutions.

My option will be Eastco.

Between Umfula and Smilin Thru is a private resort, which I am not allowed to provide contact details.

If you can get in contact with Oom Jeep, he might assist.

Dumalachitti is also another option.

As mentioned above, stay away from the municipal resort in Parys.

Thanks to all the respondentes, especially Louw, BUT,

I was actually looking for a recommendation on a value for money, one night camp, without, the pools, slides and putt putt and entertainment areas, for a single night, en route from Parys going in the northern direction towards the western side of Jo'burg. I drive an off-road Camper which is nor affected by most roads to and from a camp site and will get to most camps that can be accessed by anyone else and then a bit more, so is versatile for anything within close proximity to the route which I wish to travel.

I am sorry that I MAY be the type of camper, that MAY not be given the details of certain private camp sites by certain people, who know about these, which other people that also know about them, would be ALLOWED to give me.

Maybe it is just me that gives the wrong impression on this FORUM, for which I would like to opologise to all concerned for this type of impression, or for those that may know me a little better than those that may give me the information. I have met Oom Jeep, so maybe he should also be given the warning about his associates, or maybe he is put into the same CLASS of person...

Edge, I think that place that the info couldn't be given is a private place, which can only be visited by invitation, hence the explanation that perhaps oom Jeep can help, as I think he might befriended with the owner. Perhaps it should have been put forward that way.

I only want to prevent a misunderstanding.

Regards.

Frans

Thank you for the corretion, oom Frans.

The placing and reading, maybe was a bit confused.

I really do apologise to Edge if this was placed incorrect.

  • The intend was, that I met the owner once and that is why I recommended to get in contact with oom Jeep due to that he has a very long relationship with the owner of the farm.

Once again, my apologies.

I've stayed at Berrakah 4X4 trail farm once and it is very basic and from what I remember, quite reasonable.

It is sort of on the north west side of Parys and there could be a road northwards from there, without having to go back through the town to get onto the N1.

We go to Dalmalachite often. Only problem is the sand road.

One too many wasted sunsets, one too many for the road.

Okay, I also apologise to everyone on the Forum for my unacceptable behaviour,

and especially to DK; and to Ph....t, for stepping in to difuse the situation.

I guess that there are days where things are not going your way,

Not that I am trying to use this as an excuse, because it is not, but I am slowly learning to step back from a situation, but obviously not quickly enough.

I still however do not think that there are certain people that can extend an invitation to a certain private park, where others may not, unless this privaledge is especially bestowed on them, which just seems highly unlikely, for someone's friend to make this assumption.

I also do not know how these places will get feet through the door, unless the visits are only to specific invited guests, or, a circle of friends that attend their Xmas/new years celebrations here.    That would be about as far as it would probably go ...

To those who have ventured positive information, I thank you for your efforts...

@Edge

I would just like to mention there is nothing wrong with Umfula as I see it. It is not my opinion but from a friend who just spend a week there. I have no idea what the rate is but would think it is not too bad and might suit you perfectly.

Things do change at some resorts and may be better to get recent information. It is the same with road conditions. Just look at the most recent post about the road between Ermelo and Breyten en-route to Badplaas. Very good information from Pottie.
