I am not entirely sure if you are allowed to tow a van over it, but I am sure your van will outlive it

Travelled the pass by car twice in Feb 2013 - definitely no sign of it going to be tarred. Some places only wide enough for one vehicle to pass so would not advise anyone to tow a caravan on this road.

As Heindrich says, I hope this pass remains untarred so that it remains unspoilt and gives one a sense of adventure when travelling it.

Not going to tow the van along that. My son in law is looking for alternative route back to Pretoria from Plett for next week and seemed a bit of a short cut but not if it's gravel.

Thanks for the feedback guys - gotta love this forum Kiss

There was a sign on the Avontuur side that said: "Impassable to caravans".
In the 80's we got stuck behind a guy towing a Hobie Cat - on those sharp turns we had to pick the trailer up & carry it round the bend! It took us over 2 hrs to get from Plett to Avontuur.

Sadly there is no short cut. Tried them all over many years of staying at Dune Park Plett. Our group alternated between the N9 and N10 over 10 years and found the N10 the best.

Hallo Mede kampers

Welkom Willie!

Rather do it as a day trip solo. Your nerves will then not be on edge and you can pack a picnic. Do a round trip and come back via Montagu Pass down into George.
