Hi Malcolm what I normally do in a small town, is find the SPAR or which ever chainstore there is, and park in two parkings my vehicle in one and the van in the other. I normally stay at the van while the wife dose the shopping. At the caravan park, I allways get to know the cleaning staff make "frends" with them and when I go somewhere I ask them to keep an eye and allways either give them a few bucks or bring something back for them for there effort. (a 2lt cold drink or such)
As See Liefhebber mentioned above, make sure you only go to resorts where there is security. But then safety is relative there may be security at a resort, but then the workers or other campers or people in the area could get into the resort and do dammage or steal. If one dose the necessary to secure ones posessions, like put all loose theings like chairs ketels etc away in the van when you go away all should be safe.
We have often camped in the Kruger, Eiland and other resorts where we have left the van for a day and nothing was dieturbed or taken. This is where the relationship between us and staff was established, believe me they do keep an eye if you ask them.
Hi Lena01 welcome here, all the way from Aus
Malcolm I think this is a matter of choice. We take most food stuff along but if there is a supermarket close by we will set up camp 1st. Otherwise I would also stay at the caravan while Sue does the shopping. At times I might drop her off and look for parking that suits. Sometimes I stop at a garage with space for trucks refueling. There is normally drivers resting as well. I like to stop every hour when travelling with the caravan.
