Opinion on Sprite escape II
Had a look this morning on a nice looking Escape 2. Good condition, with island bed, decent fridge freezer and bonus eDis movers
Can anyone offer an opinion on this van, would really appreciate it. How it tows, reliability and so on
Thanks
Go For It.
Those caravans are very popular and scares.
If this is still available and in good condition, buy it.
After gave up permanent camping with our Penta, I was in my way to purchase an Escape 1, unfortunately my wife blocked me to purchase.
They are very light and easy to tow.
I had a Swift, simular to the Escape and was very impressed.
If you "Snooze, you are Going to Loose".
Go for it and believe me the Escape will not standing long for the the following owner.
Goodluck with the buy, but jump in quickly.
I noticed now: The Van is equipted with "movers".
They are so light, you do not need movers and sell them afterwards to make "cashback".

Interrior is +/- exactly the same.
Thanks Gerden, appreciate the affirmation and have committed to the purchase.
My driveway has a small slope so the movers will come in handy. I think they "made the sale"
Congrats with your decision.
I know this might be personal, but what was the selling price and was it, a private sale?
I see you are from Alberton.
We used to stay 5+ years ago in Albemarle.
We have a friend in the caravan repair industry, this particular van was sold on behalf of an older couple who went into a retirement home and was a customer. So we know the history. The axle was refurbed 2 years ago, it has been sealed, all the gas lifts are going to be replaced, new battery. New coupler shock.
R68 000 plus roadworthy
I see there is one in Alberton for sale without movers and they want R 60 000
The prize is good, fair and reasonable.
Years ago I bought the 1994 Swift from Charisma Caravans in Krugersdorp, which was only serviced and re-sealed by them for R38k.
I had to do the RWC and Registration myself.
Afterwards I spent +/- R3k on it by Laminate the floor.
Bought proper Mags from a from a friend @ R150 each, fitted new tyres etc..
I had it for 7 - Years and sold it for R65k.
It seems smaller Vans keep their value and is difficult to find.
Very nice, I see you had the easy awn, how was that compared to putting up the raleigh awn ?

I had the 3,5mt with side and front panels and we had to hold on tight with medium to strong winds.
I had to convert the middle of the roof to a "Dome" in order to avoid water buildup when it was raining.
For a weekend away, very comfortable, but not recommended for more than 2-weeks due to space.
Otherwise, very quick to setup and setdown.
You just remove poles i.e:-
3x Standing poles.
3x Roof poles.
Clean "Ripstop material" roof, roll-up with all poles inside the the inner of roof.
Roll-Up evenly, place in holder which is already and stay in the extrusion of the Van when setting up, close and zip it close, hitch and go.
It is max an 1/2 hours work and very comfortable.
The front and side panels get cleaned and placed in their bag and get stored in the nosecone or inside the Van.
To get the "Dome:-
- 1x Pole - 1mt in length.
- 3x Tennis balls or Rubber balls.
- 3x C- Clips.
Cut the 1 mt length pole in 3x part lenghts +/- 300mm long.
Fit the C- Clips in each length.
Make a "Hole" in the "Balls" and fit them opposite the C- Clips of each cut pole.
Place them evenly on top of Awning middle pole with C- Clips, clipped to middle pole with "Balls" facing the roof.
And there you go, you have your "Dome or Spit" roof in order to avoid water build up when it rain.
Hi Paul.
If you are interested in an Awning - 3,5mt with Side and Front Panels (Leisure) the same as what I had, I might get you one.
My brother inlaw is in the process to sell his Van.
The last time we spoke, they mentioned that they are going to sell the awning seperatly.
If you are interested, let me know in the meantime.
My no: 0Seven6 Five0Three 2Six9Three.
I am just waiting for their answer and if I can send you their number.
You can then neg with them.
They are also from Alberton.
My inlaws got in contact.
Leisure Awn with Side and Front Panels - 3,5 mt:- R3,5k neg.
The Setup was used only 4- times and still new and caravan is stored under covered carport with no sun contact.
You can contact me to above number and I will revert your request to owner.
I prefer "Text W/App" due to deafness.

This Awing will fit any small Caravan from 3mt in lenght, such as:-
- Sprite Sprint.
- Gypsey Raven.
- Sprite Swift.
- Caravette 5 - 6.
- Sprite Escape 1 - 2.
- Jurgens Fleetline is also recommended, but tight fit.
Measuring depending on caravan length from 3mt up to 3,5mt.
Good evening all
If the Escape is anything like the Raven, my two cents as someone who has owned the Raven for merely four months and camped once for eight days in the Kruger, I can say, "Wow! It's easy to tow and the perfect size for me and my wife. We love it!"
Gerden, thank you for your dome idea. I bought a 3.5m awning and had sides made to fit in the caravan aluminium sliders, so it kind of has the same effect as the rally. The pitching is 10 times easier. We did, however, had quite some rain in the park, and every 30 minutes or so, I had to push the water off with the broomstick. I made some makeshift things for the rest of the time, but it was not too successful. I am going to do this tennis ball thing for our awning. Thank you for the great advice.

Another "Hint" to keep water buildup away with the Awning is to place poles accross the the roof, but is not so affective and too much poles can make you "Deurmekaar (LOL)" and cost money.
You can even place more Tennis Ball poles if you want to, but I found that 3x is enough.
You can also lower the Footpoles infront to let water running downwards.
Enjoy your Outdoor Living in Peace Without Worries and "Standby Shifts (LOL).

Beste Groete

Hi all, thanks for all the replies.
Well after getting the van (what a pleasure the movers are) we discovered a full tent with extended awning and a rally tent with two sides.
After working out and re marking all the poles it took us less time to get the rally up than it does to put up my Tentco senior gazebo.
Well pleased me, and the missus is impressed. Happy wife happy life.
Hi Paul, I am glad you are sorted and with a happy ending.
Those Tentco Gazebos are worth well spent money.
I had the Jumbo and bought it @ R4k and sold it after 5-years for R2k.
They can stand any heat, windstorms, heavy rain and aswell as hail.
We once had a hail storm and the hail just bounced on the Gazebo with no damaged caused.
I fitted Shade netting all around and used it as protection for my vehicle, especcialy for the heat and sun in Limpopo (Bushveld).

- 1x 4- Way Disc waarin Dome pyp indruk.
- 4x Dome PVC Pyp +/- 20mm "OD".
