The Old Pond in Port Edward has all the facilities, nature and is positioned in such a spot providing unlimited long term potential to a typical camper.
We would find it really problematic to endorse this resort, as certain radical corrections is necessitated to visit this resort again, provided that I could convince my family to consider such an option. My experiences at this resort were not pleasurable and we were one of at least 3 families that left early.
We were awakened by residents having a good party, vomiting on our tent and loud music at four o’clock in the morning. The smell of the unique green South African tobacco were also fully recognizable, not sure who were enjoying themselves but it was very close to our site. Management did apologise but the lack of consequence management will not change behaviour.
Day visitors enters at a nominal fee of R30, this put strain on the hot water system lessening the lessening of enjoying a nice hot shower, also limiting the use of the Lapa facilities on site. As a positive point, amenities are cleaned continuously.
Sites are approximately the size of a double garage but make sure that should you wish to camp here that you do have a long extension cord.
Campers are not anti-party, they also enjoy live, respect others but demand a similar approach from all those around them. Vacationers pay for their holidays and if they take pleasure in their stay, they will always come back, on a regular basis.
To the management of this resort:
• Install discipline.
• Increase your day visitor’s rate.
• Put a cap on the number of day visitors allowed
• Do not allow visitors to sleep in cars
• Consequence management for those not following rules
This park…..no to me.
