Ek sal jou dieselfde raad gee.
As hy vol lyk! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !.................... gaan maak hom leeg moenie hom eers nog eenkeer gebruik nie.

Are there any bio chemicals in particular that you'd recommend (for their good smell)?
Thanks.

Michael, wellcome to the forum.
I have been using Porta Potty since 1995. On advice of family and friends, I have used variuos chemicals. Some pricy, some cheap.
I concluded the following:
If you want to go cheap, you get cheap. In this instance smelly and cheap goes hand in hand.
I refuse to use anything else than Thetford chemicals. Imported and relatively expensive. Used properly according to instructions, you use less with no smell or any solid waste. We use ours for no 1 (pee) at night only. By exception an emergency caused a no 2 by my grandchild. No mess, no smell and no solids when I cleaned it the next day.
Must mention that we use only bio-degradable toiletpaper which is also somewhet pricy. But volumes are low.
I will not be convinced by whatever argument by whoever to use anything other than Thetford.
When I get it at a bargain price, I purchase enough to keep us. Currently priced at about R165 per litre. I use 150ml per every 5 days.
I agree with Pottie. We also tried the cheaper stuff but they are not of the same standard.

Micheal the stuf we use comes in a bag not a bottle like normal. Its is only for the bottom septic tank.
The bag has small satchets in that you drop in the tank with 500ml of water already in. The plastic biodegrades and the chemicals mix with the water. The fragrance we currently have is lavender. We also leave the tank partially open so the lavender spreads through the whole caravan. Even after/while the toilet is used. With this chemical there is no additive in the top tank just clean water.
The last positive is that these chemicals is not harmfull to the organisms in a french drain/pit. Where by the normal Therford products are.

Thank you very much to everyone who responded. Each answer is valuable to me.
I am on the Garden Route. Are there supply shops or does one order online?
