Hi,

So with the price of petrol going up so much, it is becomming very difficult to keep the 4L Navara.

I get around 20L/100km.

So busy looking at the new Navara, but hoping somebody can give me some info on how they tow?

I have a Penta.

I see the older model is a 2.3L twin turbo and the newer model is a 2.5L turbo. Would be going for an AUTO again.

Thanks.

My Pathfinder has the same motor and pulls my 1800kg van without issues. Mine is manual tho. I imagine the auto will do just as well.

With the price of a new bakkie you can travel a very long road with the 4L.

I have the ST, also 4L with the Turbo.

Oppad na die volgende kamp.

Thanks for the feedback.

So on paper it should do the trick, but anybody have "actual" first hand experience?

I have said my Pathfinder has the same motor and pulls my van with any problems. So pulling the Penta will be a breeze with the Navara.

I always watch the bakkie (UTE) tests they do in Australia on Youtube.  They have done a lot of different test on bakkies. The only difference is that the Navara has coil springs at the back. This, apparently, provide a softer more comfortable ride. In one of the test they tested how each bakkie respond to a payload of 500kg (I think it was) and the Navara did not do that well against the other bakkies due to sagging at the back and the very little but noticeable effect it had on the steering. However, with the tow tests the Navara did very well  and they could not fault it. The test performed was just with the caravan with no weight in the bin of the bakkie i.e. camping stuff you normally put in the back when going on holiday.

Not only for motor vehicles but for any product, the Aussie opinion is very handy. Their situation climate and physically wise, are much similiar to ours. But more important, they seem to be much more  critical of the products they use and therefore give a much more balanced opinion than South Africans where we seem to regard our product as the best with no clear reason other than "because I bought it".
